Asthma control over Christmas
This is going to be a long post so please bear with me. My asthma's been pretty unpredictable since the weather turned colder, twice daily peak flows look great, but I keep having sudden attacks which take a lot of salbutamol to bring under control. I went to the doctors last week and had my Seretide

Hi from a new member
Hi all, My story Im Kate, 16 years old and was diagnosed with asthma last year. In the past 2 months I’ve been in hospital twice. The first time was really scary and they couldn’t control it at my local hospital so I was transferred to a kid hospital and put in Intensive care on CPAP (non-invasive

Frustrated and sick
seems the flu jab only puts off the inevitable. This saturday the flu hit me like a tonne of bricks. normally i'd be ok with this, but since then my chest feels like it will explode, coughing up gunk like no tomorrow. went to cons appointment, wheezed my way through a spiriotomy and allergy test, only

Scared, confused and in need to help
Hi I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me. In November I had a weird reaction after eating some Japense meso paste which was put down to an allergic reaction. After this I had several reactions that involved feeling itchy and have a weird sensation about me that I knew something bad was about

Cough Variant Asthma??
Hi everyone, I’ve been having problems for over a year now. The docs said it was asthma up until about just over 2 months ago when the doc said it may be acid reflex. I was getting treated for asthma up until this time. I was on Seretide, Singulair and Ventolin. The main issue with my doctor was

oral thrush for a year and a half
Hello all I am having a rotten time of it with oral thrush. I have had it for about 18 months, and have had course after course of nystatin, amphotericin, and fluconazole. It just won't go away, no matter what. I have always used a spacer when I take my steroid inhaler, always swill my mouth with water

Brittle Asthma and VCD
Hiya, this is my first time on Asthma UK! I just really wanted to share my story with you all, as there are probably many other people out there who were in the same situation as me. I'm 17 years old, and had a little bit of allergy asthma when I was about 5, but nothing serious. Up until last September

STILL not right
I can't believe i'm still not feeling right after 4 half weeks. My pf's are starting to drop again, after the increase in seretide and starting the montelukast they'd gone up, even managing a 490, although that was a one off, although could have been the course of steroids that helped too. Over the

An update: Got accuhalers!
After my latest episode (sse other post) I've been back to my GP today and I now have Seretide and Ventolin as accuhalers, so we're gonna see how that goes. Also got yet more Pred (Third lot in 3 weeks) so looking forward to continued sleeplessness (NOT). Even on Pred, I'm still having to use Ventolin

Asthma, running and seretide.
I'm struggling controlling my asthma right now and have the feeling that the doctors may not be helping. So I'm going to throw this out in the hope that someone else has had a similar experience and may have any pointers/helpful advice. I have had asthma all my life. Two years ago I started running

Problems coming off Prednisolone
Hello I had an asthma attack while on holiday about 5 weeks ago and since returning home I've had 5 courses of Pred, each 5 days of 40mg with the last dose tapered down from 40mg to 5mg over the course of a week. Peak flow stays the same which is strange but this has happened before when my asthma has

Too tired to eat
Not sure why, but feel too tired to eat and cough has come back plus having the strange momentary headache that I got before asthma diagnosed. Out for early lunch, I'd to hold my coffee cup with both hands as shaking and teeth chattering so much. Left at least half of my favourite cheese & pickle toastie
