Selenium & the Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial (SELECT).
Darryl mentioned SELECT recently, in the context of being careful what we put into our mouths. I might add that researchers should be careful how they spend their money. & SELECT was expensive. 35,533 men for a planned 12 year intervention trial. Four arms: 200 µg/day L-selenomethionine &/or 400 IU

Test Result Help, please
Hi, I'm new here. I was diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism in December '17 by a private ENT who I was seeing for sinusitis. My antibodies were very high, TSH was just over 6 and my free T4 low - I don't have a print out of these. My Mum was also hypo as is my brother. I was initially put on

Selenium recommendation please?
Can anyone recommend a good selenium tablet please ? I’ve just read the ingredients in the one I bought and it contains other vitamins that I’m not sure I should be taking. Also I’ve seen recommendations for Myoinositol to aid gut health, has anyone tried it and is this something members would advise

Echinacea anyone?
I’ve just read on the CancerTutor website, that echinacea is great for boosting our immune systems, together with zinc and selenium. I’ve taken zinc and selenium prior to chemo and the oncologist didn’t seem to have any issues with resuming those two. However, I’m aware that here in the UK doctors are

Thyroid and Adrenals both, how to heal?
My main issues right now is this debilitating fatigue, and general weakness, both mental and physical. I get tired from just thinking (or remembering even, processing info, etc) from taking my Dog out for a walk, from reading a few sentences, doing easy, basic mundane daily tasks. It’s like this constant

Aches in arms
Could anyone advise me of what appear to be muscular aches in my upper outer left arm and sometimes in my arm between elbow and wrist joint. I suffered for a while with a similar ache in my lower right arm (I’m right handed) and was told it was tendinitis eventually with a little treatment it improved

Blood tests, hypothyroidism and miscarriage
Have I got everything tested I need to? In terms of supplements should I start now or wait for results? I’ve been told to supplement with; Selenium, Magnesium, Vit B1, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12. I’m not symptomatic apart from my miscarriage and depression.

Blood tests hypothyroidism and miscarriage
I told my GP what I want testing for. I am learning that I have to be my own advocate for my health because the NHS isn’t interested. Is there anything else that I should be tested for? In terms of supplementing with selenium, magnesium, Vit B1, Folic Acid and Vitamin B12, should I wait for my results

Low white cell count - raising it with smoothies ?😳
Hello all , recap of probelm , wbc fluctuating between low and very low since August due to rituximab treatment for Sjögrens , slipped disc in December and need disc surgery . My surgery was cancelled on the 27th as wbc was 2.9 and neutrophils are 1.3 and there would be a risk of a spinal abscess .

So confused! Can anyone help me make sense of blood results & advise on supplements?
Hi All, so a couple of weeks ago I was told my thyroid was a little underactive and prescribed a low dose of Levothyroxine. (25mcg). I assumed it was my TSH the GP meant but I got my blood results and that and my T4 are fine, T3 is a little low. I don't understand, reading other people's experiences

Selenium deficiency in mineral-rich mid-Western Australia
Seems this should be filed in the "you should take enough of what you need enough of" section. But unless someone actually either tries to see of there is any change from supplementing, or tests and determines need from the results, it does seem ever so easy to walk on past this sort of issue. Yet again

Latest results - advice please
I was diagnosed with sub-clinical hypothyroidism 2 years ago. Since then I have been steadily increasing my dose of levo and I’m currently taking 112mcg. To be honest I haven’t experienced much change in symptoms. I still have very dry skin, low pulse and some breathlessness from time to time.
