I told my GP what I want testing for. I am learning that I have to be my own advocate for my health because the NHS isn’t interested.
Is there anything else that I should be tested for?
In terms of supplementing with selenium, magnesium, Vit B1, Folic Acid and Vitamin B12, should I wait for my results and then supplement, or should I begin supplementing straight away.
Apart from my miscarriage and depression, I’m not symptomatic of hypothyroidism. I have a healthy BMI, I run and do Marcial Arts. I don’t have dry puffy skin, my hair isn’t dry. I think I’m pretty healthy apart from my miscarriage and depression.

You are best off posting on the thyroid forum with the above as members there will be far more familiar with the vitamins and thyroid tests etc
Seaside susie’s posts on vitamins are invaluable.
Selenium should be checked before supplementation. But Hashimoto hypothyroid patients it is often thought to be best supplemented with 200mcg selenium daily (along with vit E) To reduce antibodies (did u ask for thyroid antibodies as suggested?)
Folic acid/folate can be supplemented straight away ( and we are supposed to while TTc anyway) - I don’t think the results would be skewed if on supplementation. 400mcg is the RDa and although u can oversupplement - it is very unlikely.
Test b12 before supplementing !! As results can be skewed for months after supplementing. You want a baseline measure to see if you are actually low. (Try to ask for serum and active b12 tests)
Test IRON (and ferritin) before supplementing too as needs to be within a tight range and don’t want to supplement if not needed.
Also ask for vitamin D tests as often quite low especially with the weather we’ve been having! And hypothyroid patients are often low on vit D. You can supplement after- but take it with vitk2 mk7 and magnesium (magnesium blood tests are unreliable and won’t tlel u anything- u can’t really overdose on it and most of us are deficient. Vit k and magnesium are required co factors for vit D to work best)
Magnesium will also help with anxiety and depression. Diff types are available to minimise digestion issues.
It’s great you don’t suffer from hypo symptoms - but it’s much better to be proactive and prevent it from deteriorating. Vitamin supplementation will hopefully keep u optimal regardless - good luck ☺️
I think the blood clotting tests are in there. Where can I get my NK test done, I know the NHS won’t do it unless I’ve had 3 miscarriages. It’s all so confusing.
