Nervous :( need support!
Lastly, I’m so scared still that I’m losing control or I’ll get
schizophrenia
, though my psychiatrist and psychotherapist say I won’t and I’m not. This fear is on and off and it makes me so hyper aware of everything.

Wondering if Meds not as effective as older age
My Mom, who could not raise us (foster homes, then a super strict relative) had major depression,
schizophrenia
-very serious mental illness. My depression /anxiety became very clear in my early 40's. It takes place as anger/tears/anxiety/anxiety attacks/sit and do nothing.

Need health anxiety reassurance :(
I keep getting terrified of psychosis and
schizophrenia
to the point where I am afraid I’ll start to hear voices or see things. My psychotherapist keeps assuring me I’m fine, a friend of mine who is a psychotherapist said I don’t have either, and two psychiatrists said I’m showing no signs.

Need reassurance/health anxiety
I have literally thought I’ve had everything from MS (got an MRI and I don’t), to seizures (doc checked me out and said I don’t... did an EEG and MRI and neurological exams), to AIDS (got a blood test), to beriberi (I was b1 deficient), to
schizophrenia
(two doctors said I’m fine), to psychosis (also

Health anxiety / hypochondria / Zoloft update
My fear of developing or having
schizophrenia
or psychosis is still there, but I’m doing everything I can to squash this last bit of health anxiety. Two psychiatrists, and two psychotherapists said I’m fine. I don’t even fit many of the symptoms but, hypochondria generally wins!

Feelin' down about my current life and future. 😔
And it doesn't make it any better that my family doesn't take mental health seriously unless its something they see as extreme like
schizophrenia
. I even recently find out that when I was younger I was diagnosed with selective mutism. But my parents didn't do anything about it.

Evidence of the need for patient investigation Part 1 of 2
A particularly cruel consequence of misdiagnosing someone with
schizophrenia
is that the medication prescribed to quell misread “psychotic” symptoms can itself cause a tardive psychosis, so named because it takes time to develop.
