Prof Fegan talks from ASH 2018 | Telomere length can predict the outcome of FCR chemoimmunotherapy in CLL
Here, Christopher Fegan, MB, MD, FRCP, FRCPath, of Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK, introduces telomere length as a key determinant of telomere function, before presenting exciting data that suggests telomere length is a powerful predictor of outcome following fludarabine, cyclophosphamide and

Anyone had these drugs? Comments please.
My Hem/Onc is prescribing Bendamustine and
Rituximab
as first line treatment. Dr said there is a protocol for 65 and under and one for 70 and older. I’m 68 so being closer to 70 that will be my course. (I believe dosage is lower). 2 days once a month for 6 months I’m in Alberta Canada.

Chemo-Free Treatment Best Option for CLL Patients Under 70
Results of the phase III ECOG trial found that the combination of ibrutinib (Imbruvica) plus
rituximab
(Rituxan) came out superior to the chemotherapy and immunotherapy (chemoimmunotherapy) grouping of fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, and
rituximab
, known as FCR.

Question - how many different varieties of antibodies can B-cells make? Hint - it's hypermutation (IGHV mutation) that makes it possible
Answer, 1 quintillion or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 10^18 according to[i] a team led by Drs. Bryan Briney and Dennis R. Burton at Scripps Research examined antibody-producing B cells isolated from blood samples of 10 people between the ages of 18 and 30. ... Additional studies are needed to more accurately

FYI/Trial data to be discussed this weekend
In CLL, there are multiple trials of interest being presented with the potential to have an impact on practice, including the phase III Alliance North American Intergroup Study A041202 exploring ibrutinib alone or in combination with
rituximab
vs standard chemoimmunotherapy with bendamustine plus

Had second infusion of rituximab over the 2 weeks. Last let six months ago how long before it works?
Not on any other meds! Last one was 6th December and I was hoping to feel better.

ASH 2018: Professor Peter Hillmen on the Combination of Ibrutinib and Obinutuzumab in CLL: Timing Matters
- Conclusions It is important to remember that response rates are less critical to patients than survival data, and that adding a different older anti-CD20 antibody,
rituximab
to ibrutinib has yet to show a survival advantage.

Truxima (Rituximab) Desperate for some hope and others experiences
Hi I've not posted on here since the early years of RA. I am now at a point of desperation because I feel I'm never going to get better. RA has taken over my life and I'm not coping. I've tried several treatments over the last 3 years and none of them have worked. I had my first infusion of Truxima on

Chemo Finished
At long last my final cycle of FCR has been completed, and looking back on the last six months it has been a pretty eventful journey, but I will say to all of you that are about to begin FCR treatment and those already mid treatment I do believe it has been a journey worth taking. The low points passing

Anyone had change in ANA pattern? Mine gone from homogenous to negative to speckled
It’s been negative all this year then last week was positive again (despite high dose steroids, immunosuppressants and
rituximab
which I had thought was the cause of it being negative) but showed a speckled rather than homogenous pattern.

4 Strikes (Biologics) and You're Out
After the replacements I was then put on
Rituximab
infusions for a few months and this didn't help. My feet and ankles started to get inflamed and walking started to get difficult. I was then put onto Orencia which I have been on for the last 6 months which hasn't helped.

https://ash.confex.com/ash/2018/webprogram/Paper120779.html CONCLUSIONS: The combination of ibrutinib and
rituximab
provides superior PFS and OS relative to FCR for patients with previously untreated CLL age ≤70.
