Another Week on the Road
BUCKET LIST TOUR CONTINUES Not much touring this week on the Bucket List tour. Lovely Lori has been suffering from a cold and toothache and I was nursing her a bit and catching up on learning more about my disease. I did meet John, a fellow PDer who had DBS this past summer. He looks good and feels

Anyone know how long the waiting list is for DBS at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London?
Hi everyone, hope you are all okay. I had my consultation this week. I was told that the only option for me was DBS as medication is not working. Next step is to meet with the DBS Team at Queen Square. I am now left in a situation where I am simply trying to manage this rather precarious situation

Shingles/Herpes Zoster
Hi, I would like to hear from any-one who has had Shingles/Herpes Zoster virus please. Mine appeared at the end of my spine. I had not been offered the vaccine routinely and wonder whether I should still ask to have it. Best Wishes Mini Mouse

Considering DBS. If you have had it, your input is greatly appreciated
My neurologist broached the subject of DBS surgery for the first time last visit. My wearing off periods are getting longer and I do get some pretty bad tremors during those times. I have a few friends who have had the surgery. One has had problems with infection and they have replaced his wires a couple

Has DBS changed your anxiety/depression either way?
If so do you know if the placements were in the subthalamic nucleus or globus pallidus?

recently it was announced that there has been some evidance that meningitis does cause behaviour problem due to the swellling in the meningines. The meningitis Trust are appealing to schools to carry out assesments to provide support for children who have suffered with meningitis which I believe is

Does anyone have steppage gait?
I just returned from 3 days at Barrows Neuro, Mohamed Ali Research center in Phoenix. I was reviewed for DBS. I surprised the Doc during the on-off testing showing very little rigidity, tremor and no freezing. When asked what my walking issue was I demonstrated foot drop and high knee for swing phase

How does one find the best DBS programmers?
Programmers hold the key to successful DBS, yet so little known about who they are and where to find them. Does anyone have advice about a directory or "Angie's List" that includes DBS programmers? How about when one is traveling-- where are they?

Viral Meningitis, no it wasn't it was meningioencephilitis apparently - anyone else been told this by Neurologist?
Anyone else been lead to believe for almost a year that they'd suffered from severe Viral Meningitis, only to be told by Neurologist that is was infact Encephilitis or to be more precise Meningoencephilitis (Meningitis and encephilitis together)?
