Liver Disease Reversal
Seen in the Daily Mail today British designed dialysis machine can be used on liver patients and appears to reverse the disease doing away with the need for a transplant. It should be available in three years. There isn’t too much information such as what stage of the disease has it been successful

GP failed to inform me of Chronic Hep C positive test result for 7 years?

2D-SWE, influence of inflammation and alcohol?
Hello everyone. It is known that Fibroscan can offer false positive results in the presence of ongoing inflammation or active alcohol consumption, among other factors. But I haven't been able to find studies to support this for 2D-SWE. I had a 2D-SWE months ago that returned 7.5 kPa (F2 compatible

Confession time with a light hearted ending 🐈
Well I've been over 11 years sober in February and not been on here for a while. So in my days of drinking I used to live with my ex girlfriend who lived in a ground floor flat, and she had a couple of cats, and this stray tom cat kept on jumping in the window and having its wicked way with her female

Human Betaretrovirus and PBC - can antiretrovirals fix us?
Hello all What do people think please about the research on PBC as an infectious disease and the potential of antiretroviral drugs? There was a flurry of reports back in 2015/6 identifying persistent betaretrovirus in people with PBC and then some small clinical trials of antiretroviral drugs.

Phone consultation with consultant
My partner has just had an appointment with his consultant. He has cirrhosis, everything is going OK, he had a bout of ascites in October. That was controlled with medication, which he is now on permanently. He is diabetic but is now tablet controlled due to a massive loss of weight. He is keeping fit

Bilirubin and Urobilinogen levels
I was diagnosed with a fatty liver just before Christmas - I have always been a heavy drinker so followed doctors orders and have abstained from alcohol since and also been on a keto diet - I have lost over 2 stones so far. I have tested my Bilirubin and Urobilinogen levels using urine strips and both

My husband is refusing to go to hospital appointment
Hi , back story is my husband has drunk spirits regularly for years before we met 15 years ago over our time together he slowed down to a couple of beers a night or so I thought. Over this time I have found the odd empty bottle of whiskey hidden away. Back to the present day he drinks 2 glasses of wine

Advice Appreciated
Hi all, it 3 weeks since I came off Spironolactone as my liver specialist asked me to do so as after 6 month checks they believed my results showed I was in a good enough place to do so. I’ve gained 8 pounds in 3 weeks which from what I can see online isn’t classed as rapid but the last few days I’ve
