Liver Disease Reversal

Seen in the Daily Mail today British designed dialysis machine can be used on liver patients and appears to reverse the disease doing away with the need for a transplant. It should be available in three years.

There isn’t too much information such as what stage of the disease has it been successful. It appears to be able to clear toxins from the blood to enable the liver a chance to regenerate well that’s my very uneducated understanding. Perhaps someone more clued up could take a look at the article?

Hi, I've known Prof Rajiv Jalan for a few years now. He's a remarkable man. He was actually on Channel 5 news last night explaining how this machine works.

The next round of trials is expected to start soon, and then hopefully this machine will become available to those who may benefit from this form of treatment: youtu.be/HrggM68RLZc

Found a better article (I trust nothing that the Daily Fail publishes).

Its part of a trial the Royal Free hospital have been doing and it has been recommended for a large scale clinical trial meaning if successful it could be available to NHS in 3 years. They believe that because of the regenerative properties of the liver, one treatment has longer lasting effects than that of kidney dialysis so could be useful for patients living with ACLF (Acute on Chronic Liver Failure).

Certainly sounds very promising!

From an article in The Times, but this was widely reported by a number of newspapers

Statement for the British Liver Trust:

This research is promising and could in the future have implications for people with serious liver disease who are being treated in intensive care. However, this is a small preliminary study and there is a long way to go before we understand the real benefits of this liver assist device and how it can be used in a clinical setting. We look forward to seeing larger trials to confirm its potential role.

I also read this in the Daily Mail yesterday and it is great news. This will benefit all those who who have been told they may require a transplant eventually. Let's hope this will be available prior to the 3 years stated.

Not sure if this will compare to your amount of Cirrhosis, 2019 I was diagnosed with a fatty liver, fibrosis, and some Cirrhosis. I was placed on a low carb diet and moderate exercise. Been on diet since and last fibroscan last September, I was told I had reversed my fatty liver some of my fibrosis and my liver drs are saying now I have reversed some of my Cirrhosis!!! Overjoyed!!! There is a light at the end of our tunnel!!!
