Nearly missed this. Could you add this to your original post? Like a reply to me?
I am sorry your wife won't go down 'this path' gor whatever reasons.
For many chronic pain suffeers it is their last option. And if taken correctly it works unlike those without pain where it has many hallucinatiing effects.
Our bodies have CBD receivers already but the inclusion of thc is the real working elementon pain.
I am interested in what the vriteria is at Birmingham for treating those with chronic pain and what they actuall use
Good morning, it is always better to add all replies to an original post rather than start new ones. This will make more sense to people reading. It also makes sure those you are responding to does not miss your replies thank you 😊
Saphire medical and My access clinics offer treatment in the use of Cannibis for the treatment of Pain. My wife, at the moment, has decided not to go down this route.however our Doctors who were contacted by Saphire -were NOT opposed to us taking it further.
Whilst there is far more research about cannabis, as it has been used for a long time, there are emerging studies about CBD (cannabidiol) which indicate a possible potential in alleviating chronic pain. As studies on CBD are, comparitively speaking, in their infancy, much more needs to be researched. CBD has negligible amounts of THC, so I would argue that this 'may' be safer, & an alternative to cannabis for some.
As this abstract rightly mentions, there can be inaccurate labelling as to the actual content of CBD & THC due to lack of regulation.
If anyone is contemplating taking CBD always consult your pharmacist/GP/specialist first as CBD shouldn't be taken at the same time as some 90% of prescribed meds ( & also some over the counter ones, codeine being an example).
Never buy from a source that doesn't give lab certified results as to the content of CBD & THC. Having said that, I have used CBD for nearly 5 years; has it helped my pain, yes, but not my neuropathic pain. Did I discusss this with my pharmacist, yes......the problem being that as CBD isn't a prescribed med then she could only think to check it against Sativex, & found (as I had already done), that the med I take isn't broken down in the liver as CBD is done, so it wouldn't interfere with this.
So care is needed, but perhaps CBD may also be found helpful.
