For those of us with lung co-morbidities
One of the special treats of my UCTD is lung disease, which has been termed "interstitial lung disease" and bronchiectasis. It wasn't clear to me how far this counted towards the "highly vulnerable" category of COPD I'd seen to date. I've now found a much more detailed determination here on the British

Not sure how they're going to help
Hi guys, sorry to ask more questions! But you guys know far more than anyone else! I've had an ultrasound 2 days ago so just waiting for the results to this. I'm also being tested for thrombophilia as they are reluctant to put me on the pill due to a relative having a clot. I'm worried that I'm going

Clear xrays/cscan but can't breathe!
I am having this same problem! I have had asthma for years. I am on controller medications and I use a ventolin inhaler almost daily. I often wake up at night choking and I use my inhaler. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have a home nebulizer machine for when this gets really bad. I've

Three-drug combination reduces COPD patient mortality.
Once-daily treatment of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with an inhaler combining fluticasone furoate (FF), umeclidinium (UMEC) and vilanterol (VI) reduced all-cause mortality by 42 percent, according to new research published online in the American Thoracic Society’s American

Hi everyone I’m new to this community. I’m wondering if anyone is having slight breathing problems when having a cold after having PE twice.
I had unprovoked pulmonary embolism in September 2016 ,treated with 3 months of heparin injections. In July 2017 I had another one. Now I’m on lifelong Warfarin. My life /lungs never been the same again. When it was diagnosed I had shortness of breath on any physical activity. I don’t smoke, never did

Still here.
2019 brought a massive pulmonary embolism in May followed by a bleed in the brain from a blood thinning med. Then a second, bigger, bleed in September from a different blood thinner. I'm now half way through 6 cycles of Taxotere chemo. The point is that we all have setbacks. My stamina is reduced and

Hi everyone! I’m new here... diagnosed with APS in 2011, alongside UCTD. Fast forward to 2018 and I was tested at the recurrent miscarriage clinic but the APS blood tests came back negative (twice). I wasn’t told that this could happen and it doesn’t affect your diagnosis but my gynaecologist was basically

Association between ribs shape and pulmonary function in patients with Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
Highlights • Chest deformities in Osteogenesis Imperfecta patients affect pulmonary function. • We present the rib cage deformities related to pulmonary function. • There are significant relations between ribs shape and spirometric parameters. • There is no relationship between thoracic spine shape

Lung volume reduction
16 days post left lung reduction surgery. I'm told it may be some time before I feel the benefit, but trying to get myself fit. Just hoping someone here can help. I'm doing a 30 - 40 min dog walk Daily, and apart from pottering around the house, that's about it for now. Just so tired. Is this normal?

Hi all. Had PFT on Monday morning, found myself struggling a bit on Monday night. Both Monday and Tuesday, I walked a LOT more than I really should've and both night I was struggling for breath a lot. Same this morning - my sides and chest feel really weak. Had Lung Volume Reduction surgery 3 days ago.
Feeling pretty poorly although I'm sure that will soon pass. My sats are quite low (about 84) although they were 96 before. Hoping this doesn't lead to me needing O2 at home. Anybody have any experience this.? Thanks.

Share your quitting success stories: What helped you quit smoking?
I am noticing a few posts lately about people who are trying to quit smoking. Being a former smoker myself I understand how hard it can be to quit. Truthfully, creating a lasting change in life is tough enough (for me at least) without the added burden of nicotine addiction making it even harder. That

New to this forum, but wondering if someone can help? Hubby has severe COPD and has now elected to have LVR surgery. Seen the surgeon once and have another appointment on 21 Jan. Just wondering there is anyone who is willing to share their experience of having this surgery and whether it has helped

Fostair - So far so good!
Well Peeps, day 3 of the previously dreaded Fostair on the advice of my GP practice Pharmacist/Respiratory Nurse, & no side effects whatsoever. What I was dreading was similar to the previous 'maintenance' inhalers, Tiotropium & Aclidinium, both of which delivered a paradoxic reaction & had to be stopped
