Pulmonary embolism

I got diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism two weeks ago after my asthma had been bad, they initially thought it was a chest infection! Now on apixaban blood thinner, had a stomach bleed on Christmas Day, but ok now. How long does it take for a PE to resolve?

In general according to the NHS website 4-6 weeks for the body to break down the clots. Clots are usually resolved in that time but according to a support group for PE I am a member of, recovery is 2 months to 2 years or shorter or longer! There seems to be no one size fits all timescale.

Oh bless your heart what a Christmas present. We are lucky though it's amazing how taking some pills will resolve something so scary. You definitely deserve a treat x

I agree. It took me almost a year to physically recover but the fear lasts to this day ...since 2015

I had that back in 2017 and it took me a few weeks before I was better again.

I am fine now and doing everything I did before I was ill.

I found the fear of another episode has got better over time and I am still on xarelto so I am in the safest place I can be.

Best of luck to you
