after effects of lung volume reduction surgery
As lung volume reduction surgery removes the infected parts of a lung, can the remaining "healthy" part then become infected in the way the removed part was, or will it remain in a healthy non-infected state?

Query regarding taking Warfarin and Aspirin on a daily basis.
My pharmacist & my doctor have started me on 5 mg Warfarin daily but have said I will continue with my Aspirin 75mg daily for the time being until I am in my therapeutic range. My INR at the moment is 1.2 with an eventual target of 2 - 3 from which an expected first ablation will be done. The aspirin

I have been to the Doc's with what I thought was a throat infection but I was wrong, the symptoms are a tight constricted throat with the feeling of a lump and shortness of breath, my friend suggested it may be anxiety which is more than likely. Endobronchial Coils Update
A small, easily implantable device called the Lung Volume Reduction Coil (LVRC) may play a key role in the treatment of two types of emphysema, according to a study conducted in Europe. Results of the study indicate the beneficial effects of the device persist more than a year after initial treatment

Your opinions, am I being paranoid?
Hi again, I recently asked a question as I came off warfarin on the 15th of April after 8 months of treatment following a DVT which embolised. I ended up in hospital a week after coming off the warfarin with awful chest pain, but the scan showed no new clots and the old ones had cleared and they sent

Warfarin v heparin
I had a three month trial of heparin in 2008 and from what I can recall felt good. Then I went onto warfarin but this coincided with the first of four shoulder operations. Since then I have been diagnosed with fibro which adds to the brain fog and don 't know how effective warfarin is. have discussed

After several years of being encouraged by several Dr's to use XOLAIR, I am finally ready to try it.
I would love to know if anyone out there has used this med for ABPA, if so, what were the results. I mostly would like to know if there were any side effects from its use. I know there is a slight chance of cancer, which is why I have put it off. I do qualify with the high IGE level (1700). I actually

CAN ANAEMIA CONTRIBUTE TO BREATHLESSNESS IN SIGNIFICANT WAY?
Watching a wildlife programme a few days ago I saw a report that seals/sea lions can stay underwater up to 45 minutes due to the rich haemoglobin levels in their blood. I have always had a tendency towards anaemia, and have severe COPD, so I wondered if taking iron tablets could help the condition?

Shadows on both lungs
Hi I am new to this site and would like to ask the sites advice. In January this year my GP sent me for x ray on my chest as I was having trouble breathing and in pain when I breathed, pain was central and to the side and back of the chest. X ray result showed shadows at the bottom of both lungs.

New drug trial
Novartis International AG ( NVS ) said the 64-week SPARK study results demonstrated that investigational once-daily dual bronchodilator QVA149 was more effective at reducing all chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD exacerbations, compared with glycopyrronium 50 mcg and open-label or OL tiotropium

Yesterday was results day.. a mixed bag
So I went back to Papworth yesterday to get my results of recent tests, have been left with mixed feelings really. CT scan showed no worsening since previous scan - air trapping and atelectasis with the obvious lung reduction from scoliosis but no evidence of bronchiectasis thankfully :) LFT's showed
