Has anyone looked into the long-term effects of pp - particularly poorly treated or untreated pp - on surviving children?
When I was born 67 years ago, pp was hardly recognized and living with a pp mother was a nightmare that I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through, yet I am sure that some cases must still be covered up by the family (as mine was) or slip thru the established safety nets.

New and in the diagnosis process
I ended up getting so depressed I was almost having
psychosis
. Went and got on antidepressants and that helped a bit. Kept me feeling sane, but still worn out. Like, tired beyond anything I could explain.

How do you cope with the acute headaches?
However my rheumatologist is not keen on this form of treatment as it can cause
psychosis
. Does anyone have any alternative form of treatment? Can just about cope with the ulcers and the iredness but the headaches are something else altogether.

ICU wasn't in my birthing plan!
I had ICU
psychosis
, but obviously didn't know this at the time. My dreams/visions/hallucinations were of being swollowed by those awful moving beds that they have and being dragged into hell!!

How understanding were the consultants/staff when you explained about the your experience of icu psychosis?
I found that whilst they had had patients with this before, their priorities were to make me physically well - understable of course. The post icu interest and follow up was poor.

Is there a link between PP and birth trauma?
I felt I'd failed to give birth properly, I pushed for three hours and lost a lot of blood. I was nearly an emergency section but ended up with a forceps delivery.

What are the key things you think health professionals should be taught about PP?
What things do you think your midwife/health visitor/GP/A&E doctor etc should had known about PP to help you get the best treatment and give you the best advice? I'm going to be involved with producing a DVD/online resource to train health professionals in the South West so your ideas will really help

How many Mother and Baby Units are there in the UK, and where are they?
If we feel that it is vital that women diagnosed with PP have access to MBU's how can we encourage the Government to ensure that there are sufficient available?

Is there an increased risk to your daughter of developing PP if you have had PP yourself and how should this be managed?

When did natural feelings of being a new Mum be replaced by PP?
Being pregnant again, I have been thinking about the birth and I just wondered if anybody could share their experiences. I still don't really know when I stopped having normal new Mummy feelings and became manic? I was just so happy, excited and elated straight away which I have been told is very normal

How did you feel returning to work after PP?
What difficulties did you face & how did you deal with them? Did you tell your colleagues about your illness? Did you experience any stigma from them?

If you're recovering from PP, should you read other people's blogs?
Do you find it helpful to read other people's stories? At what stage of PP is it best to read them? Do you find them upsetting & can they trigger you? Do partners, family & friends find them useful?
