My Story - 'From the Pits to Piccadilly Circus'
I had no idea what was wrong but saw a consultant the next day who diagnosed Postpartum
Psychosis
. What on earth was that! Even the nurses didn’t seem to know; one told me I had postnatal depression.

It can be a difficult decision to become pregnant again after experiencing PP. What emotions are you experiencing / did you experience during your second pregnancy? I have a friend suffering from PP - how can I help?
What things can I do to help? If you have experienced PP, what kinds of things did friends do that helped you? If you have helped a friend come through PP, what made a difference? What emotions did you experience? Has the experience changed your friendship?

What do partners need support with during an episode of PP?
We'd like to know about partners' experience of PP. What do women and men feel that partners struggle with during an episode of PP. What can be done to help? What advice would you give to partners to help them get through the experience?

Are support forums such as this one useful? What do you think of 'Peer Support'?
Tell us what you think of asking & getting answers to questions in this way. Are there any benefits of talking to others with experience of PP? Are there benefits and downsides of reading other people's posts? Does this add anything to information that can be gained from health professionals? Does it

How do you access a Mother & Baby Unit?
Are mother & baby units better than alternatives? In some areas of the country getting admitted to an MBU can be difficult. Have people had problems trying to access MBUs? If you initially had problems gaining specialist care, what did you try? Did anything work? Is it better to go to an 'out of area

My story
The Midwife came out and luckily she knew what it was and picked up the symptoms of Postpartum (Puerperal)
Psychosis
. I then saw my GP who tried to admit me to the Mother and Baby unit in the General Hospital but there were no beds.

Our Patron, Elaine Hanzak
She uses her life experiences of puerperal
psychosis
(the most severe form of “postnatal depression”) and bereavement to demonstrate how it is possible to smile again after life has thrown us challenges!

Anyone have severe psychological depression during wearing off?
I don't have any hallucinations, confusion or
psychosis
during them - just searing pain. Now I'm dreading the next episode..I've tried to explain to the GP and I'm promised the anti depressants by tuesday, but they may take 6 weeks to kick in. I simply won't survive this going on for 6 weeks. .

Not going mad but I feel like it!
I know, kind of weird, but I have just got back from seeing my psychiatrist who has assured me that because I only get this when I am stressed (so basically I was like this 6/7 days a week when I was young), it is not
psychosis
or, as my OCD has tried to convince me, Schizophrenia.

Hearing about others' experiences is just the tonic (weird, I know; sory!)
When I went through all the things I did (see my blog about TIAs and misdiagnosis with postantal
psychosis
below) I was furious about what happend to me and the stroke I had and the mistreatment that should not have happened...

My APS caused multiple TIAs which resulted in me being wrongly diagnosed with postnatal psychosis.
Because I felt ‘in a fog’ the psychiatrist decided I had postnatal
psychosis
and prescribed the atypical antipsychotic olanzapine.

Uncontrolled, Steroid Resistant Asthma
The lowest dose of Flixotide induces clinically-observable
psychosis
in me. I have also tried combination inhalers with the same results. I have now been prescribed Salmetrol as a single inhaler, even though this is not best advice.

Prednisone Steriod Pills
Having searched the internet for more information though I've come across an alarming array of stories from people who've taken this medicine and suffered side-effects which sound absolutely horrific - from women growing beards, to people developing humps in their backs, to
psychosis

Does your Doctor know about Autoimmune Disease's?
I was sent home with a diagnosis of post partum
Psychosis
and that I needed a shrink. Thank God the shrink had an education on Multiple Sclerosis as he was the one that diagnosed me way before the MS specialist did.
