Hair loss
Hiya, I have Hashimotos and have had a diagnosis for 4 years. I had my daughter 15 months ago and my thyroid health suffered quite a bit I think. It took me a year to get my TSH in range and for the most part I feel well now. I am mostly Paleo after doing AIP and this helps me enormously. I also supplement

venous blood draws vs finger stick
I was in process of changing Primary Care Docs. That included switching to a different clinic for INR/PT checks. They sent a letter saying they would not offer finger prick tests and insisted that I would need venous blood draws. I am pretty sure this was shown in the group to be a false assumption

What is the amount of biotin likely to affect thyroid blood tests?
Hi everyone, I had planned to do a Medichecks blood test early next week, Monday or Tuesday, but have only just remembered the advice given to stop biotin 4/5 days before the test. I take a multivitamin containing 30mcg biotin. Is this enough to adversely affect the results (TSH, FT4 and FT3)? Obviously

Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia
I have recently been diagnosed with FFA and was prescribed dermovate but have taken a break from it (on advice of Dr) as I got a breakout of painful acne all over my forehead. What treatments have people found to be useful and any recommendations for shampoo as I have a really itchy scalp all over,

Scientific papers linking low T3 to hair loss?
Hi, does anyone have any references for scientific papers linking hair loss to thyroid issues? Or maybe related matters? (i.e. linking hair loss to low vitamins which are in turn affected by low thyroid hormone levels) Thanks!

Alopecia Areata 1 week in...
Hi all, I have just found out within the last week that I have alopecia areata. It started with a trip to the hairdressers where she noticed a couple of patches. I made a doctors appointment the next day and he confirmed it was alopecia, although I am still to have a blood test to check my thyroid. Since

A newbie
Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with a border line under active thyroid. To hear that there was something actually wrong with me was such good news as I thought I was going out of my mind. I was shocked though it was my thyroid as I thought it might have been the start of the Perimenopause.

Hair loss with hydroxychloroquine?
Does anyone know how likely it is for hydroxychloroquine to cause hair loss? I’ve struggled with hair loss before (telogen effluvium) but it was put down to anemia and as long as I keep taking extra iron it’s ok. Actually I’m on B12 injections and my hair is the best it’s ever been. I’ve read conflicting

Migraines and Allodynia
I’ve always suffered with severe migraines (always end up in A&E) but not too often once every 1-2 years but lasted 2 weeks until I got IMIGRAN Nasal Sprays. However over the past 12 months I’ve been getting cluster more milder migraines. Over the last 6 months I can’t even tie my hair up without triggering

Ferritin levels
Hiya, just got ferretin result back and it is 36. Is that low? It is still in the 'normal' range but wondered if it is contributing to my fatigue and hair loss. What is the optimal range please? I have Hashimotos. Thanks
