Sensor Update: DEXCOM
Well, the sensor for last week lasted for the entire 7 days-- with a few hiccups here and there. Not really too much to worry about since this morning, I got worken up by the alarm going off (I was dropping around 6 am). I had a small snack and then got ready for the day after going to get some breakfast

Ensenada Chicken Platter
This is a fantastic low carb. high protein and gluten free idea for a meal and it has 15-27 total carbs. depending on the amount you ate. I plan to get this again next time I go out in a few weeks. 😀👍

Coughing and wheezing when trying to do Peak Flow reading
Hello, have had horrible temperature and achey cold for last 5 days. Feeling quite breathless now it's moved down out of my sinuses and nose into throat and top of chest. Been trying to get peak flow readings to see if its anything to be concerned about asthma wise, but really difficult to complete hard

Asthma, hayfever and peak flow monitoring
I have just been diagnosed with asthma and given a blue inhaler (1-2 puffs up to 4 times a day as needed) and a peak flow monitor to track peak flow throughout the day. The morning measurements are much lower than midday and afternoon measurements. I take the blue inhaler when needed, normally in the

Good morning everyone, at least it’s morning here in Northern California. A beautiful sunny spring day. I was diagnosed with PMR/GCA in January 2918. Put on 40 mg of pred, currently on week 4 of DorsetLady’s taper going from 10 to 9mg. No problems at this point except for hip and knee

Blood test results (probably Hashimoto’s)
Hi all, I have suspected Hashimoto’s and a referral for an endocrinologist. But I want to go there informed, so I ask for any insights. Sorry in advance for the ramble - I’m noting down anything that may be of relevance!... there are some test results at the bottom. I have always struggled to keep weight

Health care professionals in training on low carb!!!
A short online course is helping healthcare professionals improve their understanding of T2D significantly - a 36% increase in knowledge has been reported. https://www.lowcarbprogram.com/placed-type-2-diabetes-remission/?rid=17&srid=1280 Very interesting reading. I was unable to post the link on the

LCHF Evening meal
Home made pork scratching with salad. There's half an avocado in there somewhere. I can honestly say that my wife makes the best pork scratching in the world. And salad.

Are My Numbers Horrible?
I was on statins 9 years ago and they caused debilitating muscle pains. When I switched doctors, my new doctor ordered a nuclear stress test, cardiac calcium test, c-reactive protein & NMR LipoProfile. Stress test was normal, cardiac calcium score was zero, c-reactive protein normal, but my NMR showed

Link to a recipe tip for a PMR Friendly Diet Snack for when the Pred Hunger bites , tried and tested and suprisingly tasty!
Hope you are all enjoying a good Bank Holiday weekend folks. We talk alot about the " Pred Hunger" , for most an almost inevitable side effect of being on steroids and how it effects our blood sugar levels. We want a snack but need to stay away from carbs that make the hunger worse , and gluten that

Beans!
Since runner beans were mentioned somewhere, I figured it's time for a post on beans. They're not exactly low-carb, but they're low-ish, and they're a good source of protein and fat for vegetarian LCHFers. They're also incredibly versatile and have a surprising range of different flavours. As proof
