Hope you are all enjoying a good Bank Holiday weekend folks.

We talk alot about the " Pred Hunger" , for most an almost inevitable side effect of being on steroids and how it effects our blood sugar levels.

We want a snack but need to stay away from carbs that make the hunger worse , and gluten that can make the pain worse , and high calories which can make us pile on the pounds and make us feel worse.

Even if we keep away from sugar it becomes impossible to find a snack that is satisfying , certainly not crispy, and low carb or gluten free .

Well , my youngest daughter ( better known as "Grandma" if you have read any of my other posts) , has just included a recipe for a healthy snack that is PMR diet friendly on her most recent blog post on her woolly llama website that just might help keep us all from the biscuit barrel.

Low carb , gluten free and vegan , but still tastes good ( a miracle!) .

Little preparation. Quickly Baked ( well more like air dried) not fried and you can choose your own seasonings . The smoked paprika and the Chicken seasoning ones were my favourites.

What is this miracle food?

Kale chips!! , I know but don't let it put you off . Kale , but they don't taste like Kale !!!

They aren't just a good substitute for a snack they are yummy full stop. Tried and tested.

Even my OH liked them , and he is well known for attempting to escape anything green!

Fancy trying it? Here's the link :

Hope you like them too, but if you don't at least the photos of crochet llamas might raise a smile if you are having a bad PMR day .

Have a great week everyone , hugs , Bee xx

They look very tasty Bee,and are actually something good for us,l will let you know how l get on .l have to get some Kale after the weekend first.

Kalettes are delicious too. Its the tender new sprouts. Same process of baking. Lemon juice and spices. YUMMY.

Sorry bee...jumping in. I had some roasted kale with cashew butter from m and s. I think the kale was roasted then tossed in blitzed firm cashew butter with salt, pepper and chilli flakes. I haven't had a blitzer since so no tried and tested. It would boost the fat and protein and they were satisfying too.even shop bought ones.

I get excited when tasty snacks are put up. It also helps us all recognise what "low carb" is. Thanks for the pointer.

The recipe on the link uses a spoon of olive oil , so it adds that sort of a boost but with less calories and fat .

It seems handy because it fits in for the folks who are on low fat/sugar diets but not doing the low carb/ high fat regime as well , they often can't have the nuts etc.

Plus , it took no cooking skills and very little prep ( especially if you buy bags of pre cut

Kale ) which as you know isn't always the case with healthier recipes , plus the ingredients were cheap , unlike those really expensive veggie chips you can buy.

Hope you like it if you have a go, have a great weekend x

I make my own veggie crisps if i fancy them. My dog loves cashews and crispy kale so we might have a session of both kinds. The dogs lost 1kg on her low carb diet 🤣🤣🤣

Wow perhaps we should all be eating what your dog's on!😂😂😂

She runs and swims 5 miles at least 3 days a week. If only i could. Goodnight 🌻

Just yesterday sowed some kale seeds. My oh said oh no we hated kale last time you grew it (I had forgotten) now I have a new version to try eating as a snack with my glass of wine along with some radishes. ATM having to sit outside with my big coat on, in my book it's summer so it's garden every evening no matter what!

So the kale crisps in Marks and Spencer’s are ok?

Poopadoop probably knows about that I haven't had M and S Kale chips , I was a Kale Chip Virgin until I tried the ones from the recipe . Do you know if they are baked or fried or have additives or too much oil , that is usually what makes a difference. Oh , and the price.x

They were nice but m and s always have ridiculous salt/sugar/fat content. I just got the packet when i was traveling to my sisters and wanted something that wasnt crisps but that was veggie. I prefer my own kale and kalette crisps really.

Blearyeyed, Grandma's idea for kaley crisps sounds delicious!

I love everything Green and edible. But, don't have an oven, so no kale krispies for me. (As hardly ever used the oven, I decided to lose it when the new kitchen was fitted).

Thanks for the jellyllama link, a place to go for a really original pressie.

Those little llamas are just s o c u t e !!!

Grandma Josephina is quite a talented girl, as well as a very young looking grandma.... best of luck to her and her sweet llamas.

Thank you , she will appreciate your comments , she is building up her confidence with this project as well as her crafting skills , so if you ever pop back over do leave her a nice comment in the box , it will give her a big smile .

Shame about the oven , maybe she'll have to find another recipe for a crispy snack of green that doesn't need one.

Hugs xx

These sound good. For anyone who doesn't have time to prepare them I can recommend crispy seaweed snacks, also very healthy.

Seaweed is great to build up those minerals to boost your skin health and help with cell damage and immunity , it makes a great alternative to salt as a seasoning in food too , you can't taste seaweed when you use it.
