My GP agreed to do an intrinsic factor antibody test. The test he did was IgA and the results came back as within normal range.1.10gl normal range 0.8 to 4.0 . Was this the correct test for pernicious anemia? Thank you

Nurse Querying My Need for B12 Injections
So is there any test I can pay for myself to try and determine once and for all that I have

? I’m guessing there’s not, otherwise lots of us would have much clearer answers!

Advice on folic acid
I was diagnosed with
pernicious
anaemia
in nov last year . I am 65 years old and also have hashimotos thyroiditis for 30 + yrs. I had been under my gp for low b12 and folate for over a year ( just given folic acid) as my b12 was not low enough to start injections. PA runs in our family though.

B12 - advice on supplementing injections sought
Hi, I was recently diagnosed with
pernicious
anaemia
. Initially put on 3-monthly injections. Changed to 2-monthly by GP because of recurrence of neurological symptoms (including frequent scintillating scotomas, migraine and balance issues).

Migraines
Hello lovely community, I was in hospital yesterday with a flare-up; we now think it was an atypical migraine. But it looked a lot like past episodes I have had. For the past few years I have had recurrent unexplained heart episodes, where my heart rate goes up and stays elevated for hours at a time

Anybody left with servere virtigo after covid ?
I caught covid after visiting the hospital for an MRI to look at my gastric issues. The virus hit my balance to the extent I wasn't able to walk unaided which I have to say was very disturbing to say the least. Since the virus has cleared I have suffered a few events of vertigo ! I am not the steadiest

Testing for Intrinsic Factor - borderline results
Hello to you all on this precious platform, thank you for saving my sanity on many occasions. I was diagnosed with pernicious anemia 10 years ago. My elder sister, following a lengthy battle with her GP was diagnosed a couple of years ago and given loading doses followed by 8 week top-ups. We both

Hello, I'm new!
Hi everyone, I usually hang out in the Thyroid group because I've got Hashimoto's, but someone suggested I may have
pernicious
anaemia
based on my B12 blood test results, below. My levels have been high for years. They used to be over 1000 but they've come down now.

Vitamins
My active B12 and folate were low so as per advice on the forum I have held off supplementing until my GP tests for
pernicious
anaemia
. My mother had PA and I certainly do have some symptoms of B12 deficiency. I'm due to get my bloods done at surgery tomorrow.

Folic Acid does not cause PA
I saw this article with responses about the consumption of folic acid. What do people think about the responses? Especially the one who says that there shouldn't be a limit to the amount of folic acid taken. https://www.bmj.com/content/329/7479/1376/rapid-responses I have been taking 5mg folic acid

B12 deficiency and gastrointestinal (GI) upset
Many people with B12 deficiency mention gastrointestinal (GI) upset. I came across a brief article that discusses some aspects of this relationship. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34454714/ The article introduction includes the following statement: "To date, clinical guidance for best practices related

Help Interpreting Results
I was wondering if the same has happened with
pernicious
anaemia
antibodies as my b12 results seem normal despite not having supplemented for a long time. Does this mean I don’t need to self inject now? Doctors stopped my injections a long time ago.

Atrophic Gastritis
Hi everyone, I have deen trying slippery elm to no avail for general stomach discomfort. I sometimes feel as if I have a 'fist' moving around in my stomach. The 'fist'feeling then just stays perfectly still, I then feel like I need to stretch to accomodate the 'fist' and then it feels a little better
