B12 - advice on supplementing injections sought

Hi,

I was recently diagnosed with pernicious anaemia. Initially put on 3-monthly injections. Changed to 2-monthly by GP because of recurrence of neurological symptoms (including frequent scintillating scotomas, migraine and balance issues).

I'm keen to keep B12 level optimal and am considering supplementing. Any advice most welcome. Has anyone tried sublingual tablets to supplement injections?

Thanks

Some P.A patients find sublingual sprays/ lozenges are effective between injections . Does not work for me . I had to resort to self-injecting to get what I needed to keep symptoms at bay —Weekly injections for me . But we are all different. You can get instructions here if that is what you need .

Thanks for this, wedgewood. I may try the sublingual lozenges first. Is there info here on sourcing those from a reliable supplier? Also, can someone direct me to discussions re injections and where to source those too.

Solar is an excellent make to choose for sun-lingual lozenges ( Amazon.u.k. or your local health shop ) I will sent you information about self -injecting later

Try Methylcobalamin B12 sublingual tabs by a company called 'Just Vitamins' they worked great for me my B12 went from 220 to 660..

I take Methylcobalamin B12. I read that type does not pass through the gut so if your b12 deficiency is gut related it bypasses it. Idk if it makes any difference between injections.

Hi, Yes I'm using sublingual tablets to supplement injections. Seems to be working fine for me.

Many thanks, all, for the further comments/suggestions. I will give sublingual tabs a go as I am keen to keep B12 levels optimal with the aim of avoiding recurrrence of neurological symptoms. My understanding is that some (at least) of the Methylcobalamin should be absorbed into blood vessels under the tongue, thus (to some extent) circumventing intrinsic factor issues that prevent absorption from the stomach. Interested in others' thoughts on this.
