A good friend of ours Isinatra is down on her luck, currently on dialysis, with a kidney infection! She had a angiogram which affected her one good kidney, been in Hospital since the 21st, so was not able to enjoy Xmas, hopefully on the mend. when to begin Dialysis?
my husband’s eGFR is at 13 and Cystatin C At 9.45. His Dr wants him to start dialysis yet he doesn’t want to, naturally. He says he doesn’t feel bad yet I think he has felt bad for so long that he doesn’t know. My question; can he wait a little longer? Drs fear a big ER event. Not sure if they are

My 88 y/o mother has a GFR of 15. It dropped from 29 in November to 15 in December. Doctors said she was ready for palliative or hospice care. We do not qualify for hospice care because every time someone comes out to do an eval, she appears fine and says nothing is wrong. Most days though she has horrible

Positive results after five months
I hope it’s ok that I share my good news? I finally went to the hospital to a nephrologist - 6 months after realizing I had CKD stage 3.. my eGFR was about 50-53. No other symptoms.. My doctor showed me my test results that went way back - and they showed above normal creatinine and below normal eGFR

Low Blood pressure
Just out of interest, how low does your blood pressure go during dialysis?I am in a session now, and it went down to 74/ 41 a couple of hours ago. I felt really quite unwell. Having been told off in the past for not calling a nurse, today I pressed my call button. Unfortunately, it wasn't properly plugged

Forgive me if this is in the wrong forum, wasn't sure where to post. In March this year I was diagnosed with a large tumor (6 in, 4.5lbs) on my left kidney. I had no symptoms but had some lower abdominal pain that lasted about a week which caused me to get a CT scan and the tumor was discovered. The

I feel angry and devalued.
Today, in our dialysis unit, we have an unusual number of agency nurses. Most of them are are from India.During my session this morning, the nurse looking after me today ( also from India) decided to do a flow test check on me, by hooking me up to a machine that checks the flow rate. This happens maybe

What does having a NEW KIDNEY feel like?
Hi All, I have been in the transplant list for a year now and still waiting to get called. I can’t just help to wonder what having a kidney transplant will feel like. Apart from the fact that it will be a gift of life and freedom from being tied down to dialysis. What does it feel like? Will you
