hey all! 76 y/0 male with grade 4 kidney disease for about 2 years now. GFR runs about 27.5, creatinine about 2.4, and BUN about 39. I have to go every 4 months for urinary stent replacements, due to ureter strictures. Would a cadavers transplant be of benefit, or would I even qualify? What about the strictures and would a cadaver transplant take care of those too? Or am I just too old? The thought of dialysis is wearing on me. Thanx in advance for your thoughts.

Are you confusing ureter for urethra? The ureters run from the kidneys to the bladder. I would think it takes surgery to replace a stent in a ureter every 4 months. Ugh!

I did say the ureter, and yes, the stents are replaced every 4 months.
