Hello, my name is Arlene Hernandez and my 32 year old daughter has been on dialysis since she was in her early 20's. She received her first transplant in 2020 but it failed. We are now facing painful times because she is in dire need of a kidney transplant. She has a someone who is going through the process but he is of course being talked out of it. We need help.
She is all set to go with a transplant team at the Mayo clinic in AZ.
If anyone is reading this, please help us. She is also O -/+ blood type.
I am a despite mother in need of help.
Arlene

As a 2012 kidney donor at age 66 I am a proponent of living kidney donations. Is your daughter's friend being talked out of giving by friends/relatives who fear for his future, or does he have some health concerns and medical staff is suggesting that he not donate? Education and spreading the word is key. I know from my friend's experience how difficult the waiting was for my friend and her family and all our friends. There are willing donors out there but they have to know of the need and the process. You and your daughter can share the need and the hospital staff provide information about the process. Wishing you success in finding a great donor soon.
Hi Arlene I am so sorry your daughter needs another transplant- the waiting for a donor is extremely hard. I have been looking for a living donor for nearly three years. It is frustrating when potential donors are disqualified but I’m trying to view the denials as a positive that my transplant team wants the best match for me. There are times I get discouraged but I keep trying. I attended the NKF training on finding a living donor and it has been helpful in giving me ideas to try. Best wishes to you and your daughter on this journey.
