Creatinine vs gfr
I was just curious if anyone’s had their nephrologist say the creatinine only is more important then Gfr? My creatinine is 340 and my gfr is at 14 and he says I’m still going to be a while away from a transplant. He says that my creatinine would need to be more like 600 to need a transplant. They are

Transplant Recovery Equated to One Year on Chemotherapy?
One of our contributors on HealthUnlocked was told, in her evaluation for transplant by the Hospital Transplant Team, that the first year of recovering from a kidney transplant was similar to that of being on chemotherapy for a year. I have NEVER been told that -- not by my Transplant Team, PD Dialysis

Hi, I am 45, got diagnosed with type-2 diabetes last year, hypertension since 2014. Discovered low LVEF in 2014 but recovered and its high normal now. My creatinine was around 1.9-2 in 2014 but it has shot up recently as i became careless with diet. It was 2.32 in May 2019, 2.84 in July 2019 and 3.29

End stage renal failure
Hi everyone, I’m new to the site but have scrolled through for the past hour and would like to comment on the positive attitudes that is coming through. For the last 17 years I knew I had kidney disease although for the first 10 I can quite easily say I was in the dark as my Dr told me very little,

Ambulance Transport to Dialysis Sucks
Hi everyone, My name is Steven and I’m an EMT that works for an ambulance company primarily transporting patients to and from dialysis. I’m here because I feel like the ambulance ride to & from dialysis is not a pleasant experience, and that it could be improved immensely. What are some things you hate

Suggestion for first travel on PD
Hi, I'm located in the US. This year has been a rough one going into end stage and then starting dialysis in June and with tons of disappointments on transplant donor search / testing. I'm still on manual PD but am looking forward to planning a trip with my boyfriend so we can still feel some normalcy

So I need dialysis. What's the difference of process between a central line and a PD line? I know where and how they are fixed on but not sure what the difference in process is? I'm already on Immunosuppressant so I'm concert by infection. Thanks

When is the right time?
I have eGFR of 11%, and am working full time. I'm generally very tired, and am starting to feel nauseous a lot of the time. My consultant isn't suggesting dialysis yet, and I would like some advice as to when is the right time to take this step. I know that dialysis brings it's own problems, so don't

My egfr function has dropped from 18% to 13% on 3 days. I have been drinking as much water as I can and try to eat salt as Drs has advised my sodium is very low and suggest I'm not taking enough in. So anyway phoned kidney until the asked me to come in to take a look at me. Giving me some fluid. Saw

I need encouragement
I just got to stage 3b of CKD (IGA) (36 GFR). and also just became a dad for the 4th time. It is all sinking in and I am extremely depressed and anxious. I should be home with my new baby, other babies and happy wife but all I can do is cry... and I am not like that... ever... don’t think I have cried

Life beyond ITU
Hi everyone, so I’m new to this group so this is my first post. My key message is no matter how bleak things look keep fighting, life changing events can open new horizons. I am very lucky having received first class care and surrounded by caring family and friends. After 10 years of health service encounters
