LIVING WELL WITH DIALYSIS
Hi Everyone! I am a 60 YO Male living in Redmond, WA. I immigrated to the US in 1980 from Alexandria, Egypt. I was 20 years old and have been living since in the USA which I consider my new homeland. I have been on Dialysis for the past 5 years. My kidney failure came about after I had a major heart

Worried
Hello, I ordered my own blood work because I have a fear of doctors. My GFR is 78. It should be 99. My potassium level is 4.2 (range 3.5-5.0). So I guess I have stage 2 CKD. Now I'm afraid to eat potassium so for the last 3 days I have only been eating white rice, oatmeal, an occasional egg, and iceberg

Anyone in Stage 4 with a fistula?
Hello I’m at Stage 4 found out because I went to see a specialist for resistant hypertension and he asked me if anyone talked to me and I said no. He was upset that the kidney specialist I saw did tell me and he had to explain everything to me about dialysis and fistula. He say he can lower my pressure

technology for the generation of new kidney tissue
sounds promising - https://tinyurl.com/ts23bzj - research on rats -An innovative study led by Prof. Benjamin Dekel of Sheba Medical Center could make dialysis a defunct treatment through the development of advanced technology that allows for the generation of new kidney tissue to replace damaged tissue

How long can I be on PD
I'm new here. I'm at 13%, will start PD sometime in the not-to-distant future. Attended a class at a local dialysis center. They recommend Fresenius PD. How long can you be on PD before it doesn't work anymore? I do not like the idea of having to have the fistula in my arm, so if I can put that off for

Do anyone need Hemodialysis Home Supplies?
Hi everyone, We are newly home from a liver and kidney transplant and have a large number of dialysis supplies that we no longer need. We had just ended our first week of home dialysis when we got the call for the transplant. The supplies are new and in unopened shipping boxes. I hate to see this go

Amyloidosis
At this point, I am close to Stage 5 of CKD and just had a catheter inserted so that I can start
peritoneal
dialysis
, probably early in 2020. I am also being considered for a kidney transplant. Anyone else like me out there?

Healthy New Year’s Checklist for People with Kidney Disease
For those of you on Original Medicare, you know that at the beginning of each year you are advised about a Wellness Check that OM will cover. For those of you who have other insurance you may or may not receive something similar. In any case, I thought this checklist would be valuable for all to see
