I’m at Stage 4 found out because I went to see a specialist for resistant hypertension and he asked me if anyone talked to me and I said no. He was upset that the kidney specialist I saw did tell me and he had to explain everything to me about dialysis and fistula. He say he can lower my pressure but once he does I will be on dialysis because my kidneys will not be working as hard to pump.

I would discuss this with your Nephrologist. It takes a long time for the fistula to mature before it can be used for dialysis. So now is the time to discuss it. Take any info from the other doctor to the nephro doctor. They should be communicating and working together for your best health not opposed to each other.
I feel that my nephrologist doesn’t care I saw him one time in 2019 he told I didn’t need a follow until my bp was controlled I was sick vomiting and nausea and he was left messages and no respond I think it’s time to find another one. Thanks for the reply
Wow, you really need to find a new set of doctors. Many of us have high blood pressure (HBP) and by controlling it, we help our kidneys. I have never heard that lowering the BP will be bad for the kidney unless it is way too low.
And the fact that no one is talking to you indicates they are not safe for you.
As far as needing a fistula at stage 4 would depend on your medical history. But many, many of us do not have one at stage four. I was told when I went to the nephrologist to prepare and get educated on dialysis. If I had remained at the same decline progression I was on, I would probably been on it by now. But I changed up my diet and lifestyle and this was over two years ago.
hi, im from the us. I had my fistula done when I was 26 egfr. I also changed my diet to mostly fruit and veg.. my fistula was put in only for emergency. I intend to do the PD when i have to go on dialysis. I am now at 16 egfr and the dr. said i go on dialysis at 8.
