I was in the hospital with accute kidney failure. They dialized me 3 days into to see if my kidney function would improve. I left with a GFR 20 . So I want to know if I start filling up with toxins, can they just give dialysis every 3months so I don’t feel so sick all the time. I am 68 no diabetics. Failure was due to medicine. My GFR went 28 then 26 trying to understand this CKD

You would have to be really careful regarding what you eat to pull that off. People usually don't do dialysis u til gfr is 10 or below.

I too ended up in hospital with my kidneys failing due to medicine (GFR of 5%). I contracted a severe case of diarrhoea which laid me up for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately no one told me to stop taking all of my meds (I was on 11 different meds at the time) which included diuretics and my kidneys bore the brunt of it. Hence blue lighted to hospital and was being prepped for dialysis. Fortunately by taking all of my meds away and pumping me full of fluids my kidneys began to function properly again. Taking too many meds and taking certain ones whilst also severely dehydrated nearly lost me my kidney function, so it can happen.
