CLL, Bone Marrow Transplant and Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Can’t really answer this as I haven’t had one for my CLL. Am 76 years old. Issue of bone marrow transplant has been raised several times in my CLL “career” ( 16 years ). My specialists have told me that I am too old for such a procedure. In fact one of them said it would probably kill me. And that response

Major breakthrough in the treatment of leukemia
Bone marrow aspirate showing Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). Several blasts have Auer rods. Wikipedia This article out of the University of Montreal seems to hold some promise for the treatment of AML. Rather than just posting a link I thought it might be easier for all to read this extract

Update on My Father's Cirrhosis - Seems Stable
Hello, As we found out about my father's Cirrhosis in February after we noticed his swollen stomach. His Ascites of 2.5ltr was drained in on Feb 23, 2019. It was followed by Endoscopy where grade 3 varices were diagnosed. He never had bleeding, but doctors recommended banding, so he had it done in

Ventolin Inhaler -Alternative
Good evening everyone, I have taken my Ventolin Inhaler for many years of me having COPD and Bronchiectasis, I am now stage 4 COPD and awaiting a lung transplant. Although I have to regularly take lots of medication daily as well as nebulisers I have noticed that my Ventolin Inhaler doesn’t seem to work

AmazonSmile - charity donations
There maybe a few people out there who may not be aware of AmazonSmile. I daresay we all buy something from Amazon on a regular bases. (I for one buy my printer ink cartridges from Amazon, and I also got my "Liver Transplant" T-shirt from them). If a person was to register with AmazonSmile and place

Stem Cells!
My 22 year old son has Primary MF and one of his sisters is a 10/10 stem cell match for him - a wonderful thing for us all to hear after we discovered that a stem cell transplant is currently his only avenue for cure. My daughter is keen to raise awareness of the need for more people to register as

Decompensated to compensated?
Hi all, I'm new to here but very concerned about my dad. He has been diagnosed with cirrhosis a few months ago but his tummy is full of fluid (ascites) which is his main issue. He also has varices but thankfully has never had a bleed. As his liver is now decompensated my question is this. Is it possible

Travel insurance for post liver transplant child
Hello, can anyone advise on holiday insurance for my daughter, who is aged 12 and coming up to 5 years post liver transplant. I have got travel insurance before through a local broker and it was extremely expensive. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've just read about a 15yr old cystic fibrosis double lung transplant recipient who has been saved from a antibiotic resistant infection with something called phages, as far as I can gather these " phages" are friendly viruses that attack infections , under the microscope this particular phase looks

Bronchiecstasis & pneumonia
Diagnosed with brochiecstasis in 2004. Have 65% lung capacity. Been recuperating from pneumonia since late March. I’m on oxygen therapy. After 2 follow up visits (& mri & chest c-rays), was told if lungs don’t return to the health prior to the pneumonia, may have to consider a lung transplant. That sound
