Initial appointment
Hi, looking for some advice and guidance. My dad has been referred to kings for a potential liver transplant. He’s got an appointment on the 11th at kings and the letter just says it’s to meet with one of the team. Does anyone know what might happen on this day and if so what he needs to be prepared

Guinea pigs and lung transplants
OK so I had a single lung transplant 2.5 years ago and doing great. But my 9 year old daughter wants a Guinea pig!! My question is am I safe to be around it? I'm panicking a little because she's so desperate for one and I dont want to disappoint her

Am I the only one?
I develop pains when I am under stress and panic - usually my stomach, I get trapped gas under my ribs, I belch, I start to have panic attacks and imagine I have every deadly disease out there. It can be triggered by a pharmecutical commercial. I lost my brother last year and his birthday was 2/2.

Lung transplant
This week my lung specialist asked me if I would want to have a lung transplant. So I am going to go to Toronto and meet with the transplant team and see what a lung transplant is all about. So my question for everyone is, if you had a chance to get a lung transplant would you get one done, and why ?

Liver failure due to heart defects, need to buy time.
My grandson was born with congenial heart defects. A Fontan repair to make his half a heart work gave him 18 yrs, but the portal pressures caused scarring in his liver & he faces heart & liver transplant. How can we slow the damage? No one ever suggested diet to lower liver stress. Detox the liver? Buying

I can remember my first anxiety attack when I was 16. I was in my early 20’s when my friend and boyfriend brought me home and put me to bed. They later said they could hear me thrashing around in bed like I was running with my feet under the covers. I had rls attacks over the years. Years later my father

Sensible Advice from 1200km
Good morning good people of this forum, just lately I have been feeling sick, sometimes between meals but always about halfway through, now this rang alarm bells as this is how I felt leading up to my transplant in 2014, and some time after, we were living in St Jacques South of France at the time,

Hi! New to this Community
Hi Everyone! I have just joined this Community and am also in the Liver Community. I have had Type 2 Diaberes for at least 20 years - haven’t anything more than a feeling as to when first diagnosed. As usual, I suppose ?, it was controlled by diet moving on to Metformin. When I had my liver transplant

The possible future of organ transplants
Should I ever need a second transplant, it will probably be a 3d printed liver. This stuff is mind-blowing 🤯 https://youtu.be/NMe_fOKKC24

First QE Appointment
Hey everyone, I’m new here, have lurked and read a lot for a little while! My partner is 49, was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver in April 2018, shortly after his mother unexpected passed away from cirrhosis/liver failure. My partner isn’t a drinker, the only cause has been put down to being told

Will Liver Transplantation become a thing of the past?
I tried to post up earlier, a thread about scientific research presently being carried out into Liver Cirrhosis and the search for a cure. I know some of you are interested in this research and there are some very promising areas that are being explored. I'm not sure where things went wrong, but it

Donating bone marrow to cure sickle cell anaemia
A bone marrow transplant is the only complete cure for treating sickle cell anaemia. This is a kind of treatment in which the patient’s bone marrow is changed to new healthy bone marrow. This is done either by collecting the patient’s own bone marrow or that of a donor. In the case of sickle cell disease

Hello - I'm a newby here
Hello, I'm new on here and have found some really interesting posts. The reason I'm here is because my partner has been listed for a liver transplant due to cirrhosis. He has ascites and requires regular drains every 8/9 days. Today he had 16.5 litres drained (quite normal for him) now he is getting

What is your opinion on Max's Law?
I'm a student currently working on an Extended Qualification Project regarding the opt-out organ donation system, Max's Law, that will be passed in the UNITED KINGDOM in 2020. I am currently gathering information on what people's opinions are on the idea of the UNITED KINGDOM becoming an opt-out country
