Patient Experiences on DTE
This is useful narrative paper on why how and when patients prefer NDT (DTE) over other therapies. It might have been posted before, but the journal is obscure. Downloadable paper: Patient Experiences and Perceptions Associated with the Use of Desiccated Thyroid Extract

RLS After Broken Femur
My sister recently broke her femur and had an op to affix steel and screws. She was given low dose Oxycontin as pain relief. She is now 8 weeks post op and is off Oxycontin but for the first time in her life, now has severe RLS. I knew this happened when withdrawing from opioids but it hasn't settled

Hey everyone! I have some seasonal affective Depression. It is worse in the dark winter months, but it starts to get better around March. However, this year my area has been hit with late snow, and wind for the past week-and-a-half. I have been doing pretty well, and excited to think that "Spring"

Is earache part of GCA
I have had PMR &GCA for 5 years, starting on 60mg of pred reducing to a fortnight ago to 4mg with up and down in those 5 years. I have developed a very slight sore spot on the crown of my head but with an accassional pain in my ear on the same side. Spoke to receptionist at surgery who told me to visit

Where to go from here
I am feeling utterly despondent and quite frankly mentally debilitated after my audiology assessment. The mere thought of hospitals induces a fear within myself I can't describe. Something about the clinical nature of the whole procedure is quite scary. Regardless, after having my first appointment

Tinnitus, vertigo and nausea update
A year ago I develop sudden onset loud T in left ear. Went through the whole panic, can’t sleep, can’t eat, how will I live with this thing. Then came to terms with it and started sleeping, trying to live life normally. About 6 months ago, I started feeling severely dizzy and nauseous 24/7. It was just

Dizziness, vertigo and tinnitus, what a horrible trio!
Hi. I'm new to this forum and thought I would post and see if I get any advice or tips. 8 weeks ago I had an episode of vertigo which was pretty much out of the blue and quite terrifying to be honest. Since that I have been dizzy or I would better describe as light headed and spaced out! Actually

MRI scan or TMJ
Hello, I’m after some advice I’ve had T for over two years, a mild hissing in both ears which started in 2020 just before the first lockdown. This was ok and I’d gradually got used to it, went to see the ENT who found some high frequency loss in my left ear which accounted for the tinnitus apparently

Vertigo or not?
Hi again, I just had an attack of some sort again. 3 days ago was the exact same. Google says vertigo is spinning sensation but I didn’t really have spinning. My top of head goes tight and heavy feeling and nearly fuzzy. My brain tells me not to move my head left right or look up. If I do I get nausea

Dizziness full ear and tinnitus
I’m so pleased to have found this group as I really thought I was alone with my symptoms. I’m really really struggling. I had a blocked left ear feeling then a few weeks later a bad spell of vertigo. I’ve been left 3 months later with tinnitus, a full ear and sinus type ache, and dreadful dizziness all

Not sure if I have Menieres
Hi All. Really would like to hear from you all with any ideas on my condition as you seem to have experience in this. It’s difficult to explain but last few years I would get the feeling of not wanting to lift my head up when walking. Even working on computer my brain was telling me to not keep looking

Flecainide for VT
Hi, Is anyone taking Flecainide for VT ? I have been suffering with PVCs for the last 3 years. I’m currently taking 10mg of Nebivolol which don’t seem to be working. I have previously taken Varapamil and Bisoprolol which didn’t work either. My EP has suggested trialing Flecainide first before going down

Anion gap redux, potassium?
Recently i saw on here a discussion of low anion gap. I tried searching on HU but only found posts by people talking about other diseases, so clearly not the post and discussion I recall. Can anyone direct me to that discussion? If not, can anyone summarize the significance of low anion gap? Just

My dizzy spells are acute and severe - completely out of the blue I lose hearing in my right ear and I struggle to stand upright (I have sat on the pavement and on the concourse in Kings Cross Station before now!) - today I remained

Seen ENT specialist
Hi all, thought I'd give you a further update as I saw an ENT specialist yesterday. Please note that I live in Spain. Firstly, I was very impressed. He said there are 30 medical conditions which can cause T! He was very thorough and gave me alot if confidence in what he has proposed moving forwards

Update - MRI Scan Results
Good Morning Everyone, For those of you who asked me to let you know when I got the results from my MRI Scan...well, I received a letter on Saturday! The good news is that I am classed as being 'normal' and there is nothing untoward happening, but the not so good news is that I have now been discharged
