My first ever post in this group - any information will be appreciated. My dizzy spells are acute and severe - completely out of the blue I lose hearing in my right ear and I struggle to stand upright (I have sat on the pavement and on the concourse in Kings Cross Station before now!) - today I remained upright and stationary and leaned on my husband`s arm - when I felt safe to set off walking again I could not walk in a straight line. My hearing returned, after 20 - 30 seconds, along with a very high pitched tone in only my right ear, and a little headache over my right eyebrow. I continued walking and returned to my usual state of tinnitus in my right ear, and my vision swimming slightly. With a written letter of support from my audiologist I now have an urgent referral by my GP to ENT. (my first severe dizzy spell was 3 years ago - I have tried ear drops a few times and previously been told by ENT that my problem is not my ear, however, my `blocked` ear feeling has continued and I have lost some hearing in my right ear over the past 12 months)
What is your dizziness like? - Acoustic Neuroma ...
What is your dizziness like?
Hi dizzy lizzy . Sorry to see your note on dizzyness sounds like you need referring to a consultant that will be able to help you out .
I’m awaiting surgery on my a n
Just had first balance injection last week .
Keep positive but slow everything down a notch
Many thanks Bizzyhazel. I`ve been trying to convince myself my issues were Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, however, the dizzy spells are so weird I`m wondering if it must be something other so trying to keep an open mind. My severe dizzy spells happen every two or three weeks now, with no particular trigger I can identify. I`ll keep following this group - the support people show each other is heartwarming. Many thanks for commenting on my post. xx
I can totally sympathise with you, dizziness and being off balance with loss of hearing...it's very exhausting and hard to adjust to. It's good that you have an urgent referral to ENT as they will do an MRI to confirm if it is an AN or not... Try not to worry in the meantime, they are normally slow growing and benign. Hope all goes well for you
Thank you Pinkrose1. I`m trying not to worry - I prefer to know what I`m dealing with, so I can deal with it; whether it`s AN or ETD (or something else!) I`ll get on and do what I can to improve things. Reading about what others have been through (balance injection, surgery, therapy) I`m optimistic there will be light at the end of the tunnel xx
