Thyroid disease and osteopenia/osteoporosis
Hello everyone, I've had the results of my DEXA scan which shows I am at the top of the
osteopenia
score - any higher and I will have osteoporosis. Oddly, this is only in my hips - the scan showed my spine and femur compares well with someone in their 20s.

LOW TSH WITH STABLE T4
I had a bone scan done on the advice of a private doctor and this came back positive for
Osteopenia
in the Femur neck - which, considering I'm over 55 years of age, possibly is normal aging?

Alendronic Acid
I take Calcium D3 because a DXA scan showed
osteopenia
in my lower back. Would Alendronic Acid be helpful with Calcium D3 or instead of it?

contraindications of BTKI and osteopenia/Osteoporosis drug?
Does anyone in the active treatment of Lymphoma, with BTKI need treatment for osteoporosis or
osteopenia
has been warned by the Oncologist or a pharmacist about the contraindications and side effects of drugs used? Appreciate sharing your experience.

Indigestion
I’m concerned as one of the side effects is osteoporosis of the hip - I already have
osteopenia
. Is this type of issue linked to UAT and could it indicate under medication? Waiting for blood results, the last in November were not great but I did feel ok.

Osteopenia and travel insurance
A friend who also was diagnosed with
osteopenia
told me we have to declare it. I realise that if I were to break a bone on holiday the insurance company may not pay out if I don't declare.

DEXA results and nerves
Sites I’ve read seem to say -2.5 and above is osteoporosis but then they say -2.5 also falls under
osteopenia
, is there a general consensus on here from those who’ve been diagnosed? Lastly I’m wondering if anyone has or is experiencing nerve issues with
osteopenia
/osteoporosis.

How often should you repeat DEXA scan if you have Osteopenia?
Spine -1.3 Hip -1.6 I was diagnosed with
osteopenia
and prescribed vitamin d and calcium. I recently saw an endocrinologist about repeating the DEXA scan to see how things are now but he said they don't usually recommend them for people my age? I'm now 31. Is this correct?

Running and osteopenia
As a runner who has been recently diagnosed with
osteopenia
in the wake of a stress fracture, I would like to learn more about fracture risk and running volume, also whether I should be looking at different shoes.

Has anyone's Dexa score gotten better with meds or exercise/supplements?
My t score showed
osteopenia
for the average of the left hip. t-score or 2.8 for the femoral part of the hip and 2.7 for the lumbar spine. I am kind of in shock. Been having some chronic back and hip pain, but MRI showed nothing significant. Freaked out about the drugs.

nervous about starting Levo
commenced HRT in 2021 due to
osteopenia
. since beginning of this month my thyroid is swollen and I am lethargic. I have been 57kg for most of my adult life and today. I am so frightened at starting Levo again due to past experiences, I felt extremely nauseated and faint on it.

Soy concerns
Hi, I have been focusing on the nutrition posts to improve my diet as I have
osteopenia
. I am reading a lot of posts and articles saying to incorporate soy. I stay away from soy because of breast cancer risks.

Dexa Scan Results
He previous scan indicated
osteopenia
and this one says Osteoporosis, so l understand it’s a worsening situation. What wasn’t explained to me, was just how bad or not, the current scores are and what it might mean going forwards. Any thoughts?

Bone Health and Stairs Research
I'm researching this area for a master's dissertation spurred on by my own
osteopenia
. I would be very grateful if you could complete my survey. It doesn't matter where you come from, you just need to be female over 49. And please forward it to your friends! Thank you.

Armour Thyroid for over 20 years
So last week I asked her to increase and she informed me that she couldn't because I was diagnosed with
osteopenia
at the site of my 2 lumbar fusions. She was worried T3 would make it worse. I am so angry.
