Indigestion

I have a dull ache down my breastbone which comes and goes. Although I have a mild heart murmur it has been diagnosed as gastric related and I’ve been given Lansoprazole to try. I’m concerned as one of the side effects is osteoporosis of the hip - I already have osteopenia.

Is this type of issue linked to UAT and could it indicate under medication?

Waiting for blood results, the last in November were not great but I did feel ok.

TSH 0.01 (0.27-4.1)

T4 14.5 (11.0-20)

T3 5.0 (3.1-6.8)

I'd be more inclined to increase your T4 as your levels are low, Lansoprazole is likely the opposite of what you need as us hypo's suffer from low stomach acid not high

Free T4 (fT4) 14.5 pmol/L (11 - 20) 38.9%

Free T3 (fT3) 5 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 51.4%

T4:T3 Ratio 2.900

I see you have recently switched to T3&4 and have yet to optimise your dose so is this result from Armour?

Yes it is a result from Armour - I’m only switching now . I’m not sure the quantities the Endo has given me will be enough either so it will be wait and see!

Thank you for the tip re lansaprazole. I wonder how I can increase stomach acid?

Many people use Betaine hci with pepsin or apple cider vinegar

when were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels last tested

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Karen-Eleanor in reply toSlowDragon

Hi I’ve never had folate or ferratin checked but Vitamin D was 175nm/ok and B12 labelled in range.

I supply B Complex, vitamin D x 5,000 and K2 100 with 600mg at night.

Folate will be fine if taking vitamin B complex

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12

Suggest you get FULL iron panel test

Test early morning, only water to drink between waking and test. Avoid high iron rich dinner night before test

Medichecks iron panel test
