Nintedanib offers new hope as transplant recommendation approaches
Hi all, It's been a fair while since I last updated - longer than I'd have liked - but in a way its a good thing as I actually have a fair bit to update on as a result... The additional heart tests involving tracers, a CT scan and an hour long MRI which really tested my lung capacity with one or two

In the Rush to Return to ‘Normal,’ What Happens to the Vulnerable? By Sarah Wildman in NYT 04/10/22

Supporting parents
Hi all, I'm new here and am seeking support on how to be of help to my parents in IL while I'm in IA, as my Dad (who is a kidney transplant recipient) skin cancer gets progressively worse, and my mom (who was Dad's donor) is in denial that she is depressed and is in need of help. In 2003 Mom donated

FDA approves new COVID-19 antibody drug to protect most vulnerable from coronavirus
People who could benefit from the antibody drug include cancer patients,
organ
transplant
recipients and people taking immune-suppressing drugs for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. Health experts estimate about 2% to 3% of the US population falls into that group.

Meds
I had a successful kidney transplant on 2/11/21 however at that time I was also diagnosed with Parkinsonism and put on Carbidopa/Levodopa. I have struggled since then with agitation and jitters. Maybe on too many meds or the wrong ones. Is there anyone out there who has Parkinsonism and also on

I've been blessed
On 2/22/22, I received an anonymous live donor kidney transplant. I was totally blown away but so very grateful for this gift. I will be forever thankful and appreciative for this opportunity to give back and support others on their journey. My only regret is that I will not be able to personally thank

Re: Vaccine efficacy
There is someone at my work who received an
organ
transplant
and was advised not to get the vaccine as it would not matter because they were on immunosuppressants. I do not know how true this is however my understanding is this individual is still unvaccinated based on what their doctor told them.

Refusing Lung Transplant
A few weeks ago my wife's neurologist put her forward for consideration for lung transplant surgery. After consideration, my wife has declined as she feels it represents a great deal of change to her life, in which she is quite content. I go along with her wishes but wondered if this was a decision made

Health/Travel Insurance after Liver Transplant
I am travelling to the USA soon and am so stressed about the cost of Health insurance for the 7 days that I will be there. Last quote I received was upwards of £2000. I am 3 years post liver transplant. Am I going to the wrong companies? Just want to feel reassured that if anything happens that I will
