Alendronic Acid versus Risedronate
Advise required from you knowledgable people please. My situation is that I was diagnosed with PMR in September and automatically given Alendronic Acid to take. Low bone density due to high levels of natural fluoride in drinking well water?
Apologies for repeating this question but I have not been able to find it on the website or any replies to it. So first question - How do I find a question that I have posted, along with any responses? But the original question - I have been diagnosed by my GP as having low bone density after a scan

Should I consider increasing my prednisolone to cover Zoledronic acid infusion?
Morning all- I need to have an infusion of Zoledronic acid next week as my latest DEXA scan has shown that I am osteoporotic again following a year of prednisolone treatment. I was originally diagnosed with osteoporosis 4 years ago at the age of 52 and was managed initially with HRT and Adcal/Vit D3

Anyone with PBC tried the carnivore diet?
I have been taking Ursodiol since about 2015 and my liver enzymes have been well managed. I went carnivore about 3 months ago. I had my enzymes tested and they were off the charts! I’m not sure if this is a result of the carnivore diet or some other cause. The only question my GP asked is if I had

Omega 3 fish oil
I've read that omega 3 is great for NASH. I'm really not a big fish eater though, a bit of tuna and that's it. Does anyone know if omega 3 supplements are liver friendly?

Bone density and alendronic acid
I have PMR and take prednisolone for that, currently on 6mg daily. A GP I saw tried very hard to get me to take alendronic acid but I have silent reflux and find swallowing tablets difficult - they seem to get lodged in my oesophagus regardless of the quantity of water I drink with them. I pushed to

Question about Tahini. Also revisiting Golden flax seeds.
Is Tahini good or bad or neutral for men with APC. I've been eating a lot of no-added oil hummus and I want to know if the tahini in it, is a risk for feeding the cancer. I remember someone saying flax seeds should be avoided even though they are high in Omega 3 fatty acids. I'd like to eat them in

Recovery from PMR
Hello everyone. Two issues to share. I developed pmr 24 years ago when I was 50 . I never took steroids but took ibuprofen for the pain and to get me through the working day. After two years the condition burnt out and I recovered completely. Fast forward to Christmas Eve 2021 when I ended up in Emergency

Zoledronic acid infusion.
I had a zoledronic acid infusion 5 weeks ago I am now experiencing a lot of upper abdominal pain. I thought this was only the case with the oral medication. I am prone to this anyway but it seems worse now. Has anyone experienced this and if so how long does it go on for.

Alendronic Acid
I have had GCA for ten years now and as the result of the last of three relapses agreed to take 3mg of predisolone for the foreseeable future. When I last saw my Consultant she wanted me to go on Alendronic Acid. As things are at the moment I have a good healthy, natural, milky diet. The last DXA scan

Steroid injection in big toe joints
Pain and swelling in big toe joints caused by RA are restricting my ability to walk well. I take omega 3 oil, have bespoke insoles and wear wide low lace ups to accommodate padding to protect the joints and alleviate the pain. My gait is “off” as I walk to favour my right knee and hip affected by RA

Testosterone Injections
I recently had my blood sample taken and results reviewed by the Men's Health Clinic. They couldn't do anything for me because my testosterone levels were in the 'normal' range (specifics below). To be honest they didn't take me seriously from first contact due to me not being in the 50+ age bracket,

Catch-up?
Hi all How's everyone doing? Not much activity here recently..... I've been doing some spaced apart 3, 4 and 5 day fasts to try to target some stubborn fat on my tummy. I've not been water fasting; I've been making broth from grass fed cow bones and lamb bones and drinking that daily. I'm also still

First rheumatology appointment
Hi all I have my first rheumatology appointment next week and wondered if anyone has any advice. Then a couple of weeks later I had crippling pain in my buttocks and down both legs back and front,

The possible beneficial effect for the treatment of peripheral neuropathy of two neuroactive steroids, progesterone and pregnenolone
I was researching pregnenolone on the internet and came across this article. It may be of interest to anyone struggling with neuropathy. Pregnenolone is formed from cholesterol and is the precursor substance for numerous important endogenous hormones. Among others, progesterone, cortisol, and aldosterone

Why do we use IFN-α vs IFN-β? Might IFN-β be preferred?
I've discussed IFN types before. Some interesting info here that INF-β might be better to reduce inflammation/progression. ---- A recent post noted that Interferon is used for MS disease. This is the other IFN type 1, IFN-β (vs our IFN-α). I checked into why the difference. It turns out there
