Prostate Cancer and Statins
My overall cholesterol has recently increased (9.2 mmol/L), although my HDL remains high at 2.88 mmol/L. The jury seems to be out on whether high HDL levels are of benefit in combatting high LDL levels. My GP wants me to go on statins. I had hoped to continue trying to mitigate the high overall and LDL

Physical (not behavioural) causes for constipation?
I honestly thought constipation and soiling was in our past but sadly it’s become an issue again for my 7 year old. 😕 My daughter’s movicol dose has rapidly doubled, we’re back to toilet sits after breakfast and dinner yet she’s started to soil again, and we just seem to be swinging between big piles

Tinnitus and hearing loss in one ear - not sure what to do next
Hi, Looking for a bit more information on my own case of tinnitus and hearing loss - and to see if anyone has had any similar experiences. I'm 37 btw - so unlikely to be related to age. Basically this is what's happened below: April 2023 - ear wax blockage in both ears - so used olive oil drops (as

Krebs Cycle
Has anyone’s heard of the Krebs Cycle, also known as the Citric Acid Cycle? It’s a series of biochemical reactions that happen in the mitochondria and is critical for the formation of energy. Krebs has a book called “The Principles and Applications of Ozone Therapy”. The cycle converts NADH to NAD

Colonoscopy
I had a very stressful colonoscopy last Thursday. Stressful in itself but rendered more so by the Practice Nurse who fasttracked me, saying, ‘Good luck, I hope I’m wrong.’ I defy anyone to not think the worst after that! Anyway, the scope was clear of cancer, or polyps but confirmed what I already knew

Bowel inflammation - any link to PMR/GCA?
I have had problems with diarrhoea for several years now. I have had bad reactions in the past to sertraline (antidepressant) and amoxillin, with constant diarrhoea for several months. However my calprotectin levels (measuring gut inflammation) were normal. Since diagnosis I have been getting frequent

Warfarin - Arterial Calcification
I keep hearing that there is a risk of arterial calcification in the arteries when on Warfarin> Something about the relationship between Vitamin D, Vitamin K and the way Calcium should travel to the bones rather than remain in the blood stream. Now I have been advised to take vitamin D as I seem

positive occult blood test but no parasites ?
I'm a mid-sixties female with R.A. Constipated until a year ago. Oftentimes in the last year (but not always) my poop looked well-formed but had something that looked like a string coming out the end, up to an inch long. My bowel habits changed a lot a few months ago/much less constipated. A couple

Swollen painful hand
I've had PMR for 2 years. Was started on 40 mg of prednisone. I have slowly gotten down to 13 mg. Recently I tapered to 12 mg but have not felt very well & suddenly my right hand fingers are swollen & very painful. This has never happened before. Is this some kind of flare?

Where does the blood come from?
Hi, I have endometriosis and with it I get bowel symptoms. The most prevalent is pain but I also get cyclical rectal bleeding. I had a colonoscopy and it was all clear they took some biopsies but results i probably wont get this year. I know this is common with endometriosis, but where does the blood
