I'm a mid-sixties female with R.A. Constipated until a year ago. Oftentimes in the last year (but not always) my poop looked well-formed but had something that looked like a string coming out the end, up to an inch long. My bowel habits changed a lot a few months ago/much less constipated. A couple weeks ago I've been getting tremendous stomach pain, and last week my poop looked like the strangest thing I've ever seen. I took a photo but can't figure out how to post it. I hunted down a poop photo online of giardia poop and it looks almost identical. It lasted about 5 days, but now my poop looks almost formed again. .......... Dr ordered the fecal occult blood test and it came back positive for blood in stool. He also ordered the new "Infectious Diarrhea Panel" and it came back negative saying "No stool pathogen detected by PCR". .......... Because of what appeared to be a thin string coming out the end, and the photo I had found online of giardia poop, I was 100% sure I had Giardia. .......... Now I'm really worried I might have colon cancer. Thoughts? I'm pretty scared... (I will be seeing my dr next week to discuss the lab test results.). .......... I am going to try to somehow add a photo to my post. Edited to add: was very mucus(y) and gas was very smelly.

I had my colonoscopy two weeks ago. Results were:
- internal hemorrhoids
- diverticuli
- polyps (I don't know size and how many until I see my dr next week.)
Polyp biopsy came back saying tubular adenoma.
How concerned should I be? I suspect the results are much better than Cancer, but honestly, I've never even heard of adenomas before. Are they usually removed during the colonoscopy or will I now need some type of surgery, or ?
I'm trying to sort out what I should ask my doctor when I see him next week, and I find it so helpful hearing other peoples' experiences so I have an idea what to even ask or mention to him when I do see him.
This is such a helpful site! Thank you for any info/advice you can offer.
