I don’t know where to go, who to ask and what to do in regards to my dad who is on hospice w/ metastatic prostate cancer...
My dad (74) was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in September 2019 after numerous trips to the ER. The hospital recommended hospice last year but we refused and wanted him to see an oncologist first. He saw an oncologist and was put on Xtandi and Lupron right away. He was able to walk again

Next Steps after Cabazitaxel and Xtandi
I was diagnosed in May of 2016, PSA 16 and Gleason 9/10. The cancer metastasized to 3 bones at that time and I underwent aggressive treatment at NIH with Docetaxel and PROSTVAC along with Lupron. When the PSA started rising again after 18 months, I switched to Standard of Care at home with Xtandi and

Cost of Zytiga
I have regular Medicare, a plan supplement from American Republic and plan F Drug Plan from Humana. Currently I am on Lupron but my MO has recommended I add Zytiga and Prednisone. I checked on the cost of Zytiga with my Drug plan and it said it could be $950 month for 120 tablets - 250 mg tablet

Lupron Shortage
My oncologist told me that there is a shortage of 3 month lupron but I could take the 6 month injection. Are there any problems switching?

Nausea
Looking for help in controlling nausea and vomiting. For the last 12 months I pretty much have experienced nausea daily with vomiting several times per week. I have a complete GI work up with nothing out of the ordinary , Brain scan also clean, so we’re thinking one of the drugs but how to find

Third Lupron
Well, it’s Oct 5, and now getting ready for the third Lupron shot in a few weeks. I started lifting weights and rowing. The nurse asked if I was flexing my bicep. I said no, it’s the weights. I recommend a rowing machine. Excellent!

A study of patient's choice of ADT: bicalutamide, a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone analogue or orchidectomy
As the title conveys, All three are a different form of ADT... merely because a person has circulating testosterone in their blood when taking bicalutamide doesn't mean bicalutamide is not a form of ADT or that they are able to use the testosterone even though they have it. My understanding is -

Undetectable again!
Diagnosed 2008 and had robotic surgery. Prostate bed irradiation 5 years later when PSA started to rise, then was undetectable for 4 years. Then had spread into 4-5 retroperitoneal lymph modes. Been on Lupron 3 years, and recently PSA started to go up again. 3 weeks after starting Daralutamide

Why did they let me off the ADT hook so easily?
Well after a year on ADT as part of a clinical trial at a major center of excellence, I met online with the RO today for a follow up (I had 37 treatments of IMRT in February). Previous to that I had RP in June 19, pathology showed Gleason 4+3, ECE, seminal vesicle invasion and 1 of 12 lymph nodes positive

different ADT medications
Is there any known difference between the various ADT injection meds in terms of efficacy and side effects? My dad's new oncologist is switching him from Lupron to Trelstar, not sure why. Just haven't seen that name come up too often on this site. Thanks

Bicalutamide or not?
Hello all! Quick summary: Diagnosed Nov. 2018, PSA 1036 (yes that's one THOUSAND thirty six!). Apparently only moved to lymph nodes(first thought bone mets-now looks like only voids in scan). Firmagon, then Lupron, then chemo, on going Lupron until Jan. 2020. Decided I'd try to quit the Lupron for a

Please share your personal experience and references, but check your biases at the door
I appreciate links to studies. I do not appreciate interpretations of studies by anyone other than an experienced and qualified MD. In my opinion, your input would be far more useful if you let the studies speak for themselves. Cutting and pasting excerpts is an indication of bias by the person doing

If PSA is undetectable for over 2 years?
Do we still subscribe to ADT for life? My PSA at diagnosis was 1000+, with extensive metastasis in the usual bones, the latest scans shows scars, no active tumors and PSA <0.02. So, why continue quarterly Lupron shots and daily Abiraterone Acetate (Zytiga) with Prednisone? Why my Dana-Farber Oncologist

Decision Time is Coming
I was diagnosed in August 2018 - PSA had risen from 5 to 16 in 6 months.- the imaging showed some lymph node involvement (the radiologist said one node - but my oncologist thinks 3 to 5) but no bone mets - I started Lupron in November 2018, IMRT in December 2018 to early Feb 2019 and added Zytiga in

Want to learn about lupron and casodex
I have been doing watchful waiting for 15 years. My Urologist did a TURP operation and the pathology said gleason 3/5. My Doc wants me to do Casodex to start. I have read that any kind of T deprivation can cause weight gain, man boobs, lethargy and heart problems. I have always been a skinny hyper active

Methylprednisolone acetate with Lupron
Hubby has had four successful shots of Lupron ( 1 every 6 months) for prostate cancer, which has lowered both his PSA levels and testosterone to medical castration levels(13). His last ct scan (which he gets every 6 months) showed that the tumors had shrunk to undetectable size and his bone scan showed
