Suffering from cyclical pain and nausea

Hey ladies! I have been hanging around these parts for quite some time. I’m near the end of my rope with my cyclical issues. I’m currently taking several types of hormones to control it but nothing seems to work. I am on progesterone cream (10 days a month), progestin, lupron, and the mirena. This past cycle was probably the worst that I’ve gone through in over 3 years.

Every time I am due for my lupron shot, about a week before, I start to get severe nausea, cramps, spotting. It flairs my GERD and POTS which make digesting and eating even more painful. The nausea is so bad that it’s causing severe constipation and even worse is that my kidney function is now 55% and showing damage. I’m almost at the end of my rope with this as no one can seem to figure it out. I’m taking odansatran (they are $5 a pill 🥴) every day and it barely does anything. I’m lucky on a good day if I eat/drink 1200 calories a day (less on the really bad days). I take 38 supplements and pills a day to help with my 18 chronic conditions. I also take iberogast and digestive enzymes when I eat but the pain and discomfort is more in my throat and sternum.

Unfortunately my Endo surgeon is not very responsive to the hormonal side of things (he was an amazing surgeon though). I’ve done the DUTCH test which is a very specific highly sensitive hormone test which shows that all of my hormones (sex and adrenals) are as low as possible so I know there is something hinky going on. I see my functional medicine specialist next week and I’m going to see about finding an endocrinologist who specializes in woman’s health.

I guess I came here in the hopes that someone may have a suggestion. Does anyone else here suffer from severe GERD and have found relief in some way? I’m also on an auto immune diet so I know it’s not what I’m eating. 😫🤮

Hi 👋

I’m so sorry you’ve been feeling unwell! I’ve been suffering from the exact same thing recently of constant nausea and spotting. It’s so bad that most days I can’t eat so I’ve been relying on soup to keep me going! I’ve been hounding my doctor about it for ages and even ended up in A&E with an unrelated condition and I told them and no one seemed to care. I have a heart condition so I can’t take medications that can affect my heart rate or blood pressure which is annoying!

I’ve recently been wearing travel sickness wristbands and they make some what of difference. I also try to eat little and often rather than eating meals to keep me going throughout the day. I also find ice lollies help because they cool down your core temperature and keep your blood sugars okay. I’ve also been drinking ginger and lemon tea in the mornings because that’s when it’s the worst.

It doesn’t clear up the nausea completely but it makes it more manageable so that I can leave the house and go about my day. Hope it helps! Xxx
