Just started MTX yesterday
Thought I would share that I started MTX 7.5 mg yesterday evening. I was terrified of the side effects as I hate nausea. So I was just lying there in bed waiting for it.... I never came!! I fell asleep after 2.5 hours after taking my 5 mg nighttime pred. at 11.30 PM. So far so good. Now I need to increase

Abiraterone side effect
After 12 doses of abirateron/prednisone I developed a rather severe cough. Even though this is one of the listed side effects of abiraterone my oncologist says that she has never heard of it happening before. Has anyone here ever had this experience and, if so, was there a remedy for the cough or an

Possible GCA?
Hi, I’m at my local ER, because for the past 3 or 4 days I have had a chronic headache, severe neck ache and significant fatigue. In addition, my left temporal artery is puffy and tender. No scalp tenderness. No fever, though I may have had a slight one last night. I woke up with a random sore throat

Bells Palsy that never was
Hi all, I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy', and put on prednisolone for 10 days, it didn't work, and I was sent to an ENT man, who did an MRI which confirmed that I did not have the Bells Palsy, but they found a small tumour active and moving in my left facial area. Bunion operation
Hi, I am having a bunion operation and hammer toe correction next week (minimal invasive surgery). I'm currently on 3.75mg prednisone. Should I follow sick day rules, maybe increase to 5mg, or first discuss with surgeon and anaesthetist? Thank for this very helpful forum.

Totally desperate and abandoned (sorry- this is a long rant)
I have not posted for a long time, mainly because I’ve been in excellent health. In summary, I was diagnosed with GCA in May 2017, had terrible reactions to Prednisolone (severe psychosis being the worst- apparently 1 in 20 people suffer this) such that my husband had to call out the Crisis team. After

Just starting on this journey…..
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with GCA and PMR in June 2023 so very much a newbie and it’s taking me a while to get my head round these conditions. There’s so much to learn and understand! From being a very fit 69yr old attending several high intensity fitness classes a week, I have gone to someone who

one step forward……..
just to complete the replacement of my right side joints I’m down for a reverse shoulder replacement in 6 months - strikes permitting! New shoulder will complement replaced knee and hip. But the irony for me was when she asked how many mgs of prednisone. I am currently on and I expected at least a tuttut

Prednisone Tapering
I have been tapering using the DS method for 6 months. I am now tapering from 2mg to 1 1/2. In two days I will be @ 1 1/2 for seven days, then 1, back to 1 1/2 for 6 days and so on. While I am not in any muscle pain I am extremely fatigued. Does being extremely fatigued means I am having a flare

Adrenal Insuffiency?
I'm hoping someone in the know on adrenals could offer some advice. A couple of weeks ago I was very unwell with chest pains, shortness of breath especially on laying down, pressure on my breastbone, feeling rather feverish. I was advised by GP to attend A&E who weren't sure what it was and suggested

Tips or advice to help calm autoimmune flare ups at home??
I have had a few flare ups with this new medicine which is not unexpected but as much as I like Prednisone my doctor does not. Prednisone is the current treatment for flare ups but she does not do a standing order just case by case and her appointments book week to months in advance so hard to always
