Bunion operation

Hi, I am having a bunion operation and hammer toe correction next week (minimal invasive surgery). I'm currently on 3.75mg prednisone. Should I follow sick day rules, maybe increase to 5mg, or first discuss with surgeon and anaesthetist?

Needs to be discussed with surgeon and anaesthetist - they certainly need to be aware you are on Pred….particularly on such low dose where your adrenals maybe still struggling quite a lot and not able to cope with additional stress. Anaesthetist may well give you infusion during surgery…

Possibly but needs to be discussed with the anaesthetist and surgeon. Post-op maybe needed because bunions are painful - I imagine also even with minimally invasive surgery.

Please let us know how you get on. Bunion op is in my future, too but not for forseeable........
