PMR from 2017
It's been a long haul, and as with fellow sufferers exasperating at times. I was on 5mg Prednisolone for quite some time, when the Rheumatologist felt I no longer had PMR, and so to taper 0.5mg (half a tablet) every 2 months. Apart from taking Vitamin D, and having reached just half a tablet, when in

Question about codeine.
G’day all. I’m an Aussie living in the UK. Not terribly bright if you have RA. Rust has replaced the tan I once had. 😉Diagnosed about 11 years ago whilst in France where I lived for 14 years. We’ll looked after there but took 6 months to get into the system here. I am on 25mg MTX injection. Was on prednisolone

steroid Psychosis?
not actually PMR related but the 83 year mother of a close friend of ours was hospitalised recently with what was diagnosed as an auto-immune skin condition. Within 24 hours of entering hospital she showed all the symptoms of severe dementia. Tests showed no infection or physical problems. It was suggested

Is taking 9mg of prednisolone for PMR being immunocompromised ?
My grand daughter has just had her live chickenpox vaccine and we are due to see them next weekend for her brothers 4th birthday. I had chickenpox as a child. Their parents were given advice to avoid close contact with all people who are immunocompromised for 6 weeks after the vaccine. Does this mean

Prednisolone/PMR - Hysteroscopy
I have no idea if I am making a fuss over nothing, I find it so hard to tell and I am alone. I had a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic on Wednesday. All went well, except for pain after the procedure, pain probably related to scarring from previous surgery in that area. On 6 mg pred atm. I didn't

Upcoming appointment with Rheumy Consultant - people's experiences/advice appreciated
Hi all Firstly, just wanting to explain that my user name is a reference to the nickname of the football team I support - I'm not interested in knife crime or anything like that! I might change it actually to avoid any confusion or concerns! I've got another appointment with Rheumy Consultant next

Dexa results, awaiting GP advice, osteoporosis and Alendronate
Having been diagnosed with PMR in March this year (currently tapering to 8.5 Pred on DL's 5 week slow taper, all going fine) I requested a Dexa scan before making a decision about Alendronic Acid, which GP had prescribed at same time as prescribing the Pred, Lansoprazole & subsequently Evacal D3. Fostair 100/6 inhaler.
I have been asthmatic from 3 years of age, I am now 74 years of age and over the last couple of years my asthma has been getting worse. I have just finished another course of Clarithromycin and 5 days of prednisolone. I have been prescribed a Fostair 100/6 micrograms inhaler, and it has stopped my shortness

Flare GCA or not
I am currently on DL taper 8 to 7. Yesterday had really bad temporal pain on left side which would not ease with paracetamol. I upped the prednisolone to 20mg as I was really worried and have taken 20mg again this morning. Would I be able to do this for 5 days and then drop back to 7mg. I have a wedding

prednisolone and head aches
I hate it these steroid tablets give me such severe headaches I can’t handle it although I need them for asthma exacerbation. Is anyone else getting headaches? Also stomach aches

Return of flare 4 weeks after following flare protocol, successfully, I thought!
Five weeks into 5 mg prednisolone, after a very slow taper, I was in a happy place, but 4 weeks into 6 mg, after 2 weeks on 10 mg, flare protocol, and the horrid flare seems to be returning. Though not quite to the same intensity as last time, I feel I need to top up again to get through the day. Should

my next hurdle
am down to 7and a half Prednisolone dose. My knee ( ( which I had surgery on in January 2022 for a torn meniscus) has now packed in so to speak.. I saw a Nurse Practitioner who was extremely helpful at my surgery yesterday. Not a good idea to have an x Ray yet as would have to repeat in 6 months , although

Stay permanently on minimum dose Prednisolone after tapering?
PMR. I've tapered from 15, now down to 2 by going down 0.5/month. Chatting to my chiropodist the other day - his parents both have PMR - he said they were both told to stay on 1mg for life. Is that usual? If my GP says once tapering is ended that's that, no more steriods, do I say OK? Any experience

Confused
Well I am totally confused. Eight years ago I was diagnosed with PMR through symptoms and raised blood markers.I have slowly tapered down to 1mg of Prednisolone daily. I had a third appointment with the Rheumatologist because I begged my review to be brought forward due to a massive flare of my PMR

Laparoscopy Went Well
Hello everyone, Some of you may be aware that I went into hospital yesterday for a hysteroscopy, a laparoscopy and the removal of a small uterine polyp. I thought it might be helpful to just explain how I chose to manage my steroids over this period of time. Obviously, our circumstances are all
