I had polymyalgia 6 years ago but have been free of it for just over a year.Unfortunately , we have had quite a bit of stress in the family and the tell tell symptoms came back.
Had a blood test and CRP levels 63 mg so yes I was right.
A GP texted me to say that he was prescribing 15mg for 14 days.
What I don't understand is that
1. He hasn't prescribed omeprazole
2. He hasn't considered how I wean myself off the prednisolone
Have things changed in the last year or am I right to be concerned.
Have to say that I am feeling pretty fed up

Hard luck. It happens but after a year it isn't likely to be the last version waking up and everyone I know who has had it more than once says the episodes are totally different in every way. Lets hope this is short and kind ...
By no means all doctors prescribe omeprazole - I have never had it for pred alone, just when other events have made it advisable. Certainly not for 14 days worth which I suspect he is using to check it is most likely PMR and not something different. With only 2 weeks of pred you can just stop if it has done nothing and he decides it isn't PMR at all so no need to know how to taper. He will also probably want to see if the symptoms go on pred and come back without.
