Hello - I'm new to all this.
Just been diagnosed with Polymyalgia 2 weeks ago and am on Prednisone 15mg steroid dose alongside 2 x 500mg Naproxen, 1 dose 20mg Omeprazole, 4 daily doses of 2 x 500mg paracetamol plus 2 Adcal-D Calcium/vit D tablets. The pain is manageable now - I can get some sleep and the pain/stiffness in my shoulders

The end ??
This is more of a whinge than a question. I have been trying to reduce prednisone to 3.5mg for the last 4 months. I was diagnosed 4 years ago with PMR and GCA. I was happy enough with the one to two year burnout prediction from rhumatoligist. Yes I have read all your stories and realise it may never

Prednisolone increase: 0.25mg to 1mg
During wk 5 of my slow D-L taper from 0.5 to 0.25mg, bi-lateral shoulder discomfort started yesterday. Based on the knowledge gained here I have increased to 1mg and plan to stay at that dose for 5 days, and then drop to 0.5mg, sticking at 0.5 for a month at least before trying the last step once more

Can't squat or raise arms without pain?
I have tapered down to 1 mg Prednisone over three years (from 15mg). I have the same weird symptoms that I've always had. If I squat, my legs feel an extreme fatigue/deadness. I can't raise my arms for more than 15-20 seconds without them feeling an extreme fatigue/pain/deadness. Does anyone else have

Prednisone and DOMS
Is the inflammation from PMR (which I unfortunately have) and the inflammation from DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness, which I also regularly have) somewhat similar, or are they two different beasts. And whether similar or not, does prednisone reduce DOMS. Thanks in advance for any insights.

Tapering Regime while on Kevzara (or other biologic)
I'm in the U.S. getting Kevzara (third injection is this Tuesday i.e. week six). I am grateful I was allowed to try Kevzara after 9 years on prednisone and never being able to get below 5 mg without a flare amongst other reasons. I have tried to look up the tapering regime for attempting a taper with

PMR question with up coming MRI
My journey with PMR. In August 2023 the doctor thought I had a muscle issue so they prescribed ibuprofen 800 mg every eight hours and Zanaflex for 4 mg every eight hours. I was on this for two weeks and there was no improvement Went back to the doctor on 9/23/ 23 and had blood work done and my SED rate

EBRT - Is it the right thing and what to expect?
After DX in November 2018 with Stage IV and Gleason of 5+4 and 4+5, and 5 years of ADT of Lupron (then Orgovyx), prednisone 5mg, and Zytiga 250mg with low fat breakfast, my PSA stayed stable at 0.4 or 0.5. At end of 2013, PSA started rising to latest value of 0.84. Had PSMA PET Scan March 5, 2024

Wound healing and Steroid Use
I have been on Prednisone for just over a year. I am down to 10mg and cannot titer down without flare. I am waiting for approval for Kevzara. I have noticed that when I get a small cut or skin abrasion (which is more frequent since my skin is thinner with steroid use) It gets very red and takes a long

Has anyone tried pulsed electric magnetic field therapy for PMR relief?
I am having trouble tapering. Can't seem to get much below 15 mg; went down to 10 mg but still having some pain in the mornings. So increased dosage on advice of rheumy. At this rate, I'll be on prednisone for a long, long time. So wondering if anyone has tried alternative treatments to try to get

Prefer pain to steroids!
in 2019 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, in 2023 following a dexa I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. Today a rheumatologist told me despite negative blood tests he was pretty certain I have PMR and after further blood tests wants me to start taking prednisone. I chose not to take meds for the osteoporosis
