Could be some positivity for frequent UTI sufferers.
Good morning folks. Just entering the fourth year since my GCA diagnosis and having suffered around 17 UTI's in that time (hospitalised with two) along with constant symptoms in between, I've swallowed tons of D-Mannose, cranberry supplements, given up caffeine, artificial sweeteners, used vaginal pessaries

Where do I go from here?
I've many years history of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Polymyalgia (PMR). I developed vasculitis in August, possibly triggered by apixaban. That had been started after an episode of dramatically low sodium had caused Atrial Fibrillation. I'm now on 25mg prednisolone, azathioprine 125mg daily. This is stops

Introduction and Thanks
First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Roy and I am 78 and although I am English I now live in Adelaide, Australia.. Up until the last year or two I have had a good health run ( I realise how lucky I am ) until the dreaded PMR struck. After diagnosing myself, thanks to Dr Google, and

11dp5dt bfp but spotting
Hi looking for reassurance or anyone with a similar story. I’m currently 11dp5dt and have had positive tests since day 5 which I’m very happy about. However today I noticed a bit of light brown discharge and then half an hour later wiped away dark red blood. There was loads of it but enough to make me

Long Haul Flight and Pred
Morning, I’m looking for some advice please about taking my prednisolone after a long haul flight as we will be away for two months. I usually take my prednisolone about 8am, we are flying to Australia for our granddaughter’s wedding in a couple of weeks so I can take my prednisolone at the normal

Side effect of prednisolone
The end of last Nov/Dec last year I had to take a long course of prednisolone over 2 weeks. Then a reducing dose back down to zero. Nine days ago I had a blood test to check my blood sugar. It came back a little raised. This I was told wasn't too concerning as I had been on steriods. This test will

which diuretic with prednisolone?
I posted a while ago about diuretics - thanks for the responses. Mum was put on furosemide which worked for the odema, but within a week had diarrhoea which meant it was stopped and we ended up with a bad uti with haemorrhage due to the diarrhoea…… It may have been the furosemide causing the diarrhoea

Hi, after multiple IVF failures the latest two with PGTA tested euploid embryos, I had another hysteroscopy, curettage and culture and sensitivity procedure yesterday. The consultant said everything looked healthy and normal but I have to wait a week or two for the biopsy report. My tubes were both

Can PMR effect hip, pelvic area
Hello everyone, I have been on prednisolone for just over three weeks, pain in neck, shoulders & arms have improved . I thought my low back had gone into spasm at the weekend however I am wondering if it could be PMR . The pain in hips and pelvic area is excruciating first thing in the morning easing

Bitter Taste In Mouth
I have had a persistent bitter taste in my mouth since the end of December and the only respite that I get from it is either when I am sleeping, eating or drinking! It’s so bad that it is making me feel quite unwell! I am doing everything that has been advised eg drinking lots of water, brushing teeth

Aching joints after stopping prednisolone
Hi could I ask if it is normal to suffer aching joints & muscles after stopping prednisolone? In mid Nov I managed finally to taper off prednisolone after 3 yrs treatment for PMR. I felt ok and very pleased with myself. I then caught covid ( badly) in early Dec which left me fatigued. I went off to

Hair conditioner that works??
Can any one recommend a good hair conditioner that helps dry brittle hair? I had really a lot of hair before taking prednisone ( started last September) but it is not thin, brittle and dry. It upsets me more than any symptom of pmr!! Any one know something that really works i would be pleased to hear

Adrenal glands and exercise
My rheumatologist was pleased that I started exercising recently - I do a yoga class, a strecthing and toning class (i hour each a week) plus I have started doing regular bike rides (around 6 km at a time). She told me that would help my adrenal glands to start functionng better as I cross the 7.5

Lupus and Sjogrens issue
Has anybody ever had issues with lupus/sjogrens in their ears? I caught a cold and mucus has settled in my Eustachian tubes or something and they have been blocked now for over 15 months. I have so much fullness and pressure in both ears and I have lost a lot of my hearing. Prednisone hasn't helped

Update
Hi everyone, I’m on a steroid taper of 10/5 daily so will be on 5 mg when I start Mycophenolate on 20th of this month, I’m starting on a low dose gradually increasing. Hopefully this will take away the inflammation and remove bilateral pleural effusion’s and pericardial effusion caused by Serositis as

Looking for typical Prednisone reduction schedule new on Actemra
Haven't been around much lately. This has probably been the worst, six months of my seven years with pmr and final recent eye surgery for double vision 7.8 Have spent the last six months deciding on starting Actemra at the urging of my rheumatologist. Round and round with insurance (U.S.) appeal, re-submission

DSNS protocol
I am on 2.5 mg prednisone going to 2 mg. Twice in the last 6 months I have flared at 2 mg. I am on week three of the 5 week DSNS plan. Once I get to a full week of only 2 mg can I then start the program again going from 2 to 1.5 mg if no stiffness or should I hold at 2 mg for awhile before reducing

GCA Flare~~ status and explanations💞
You are ALL just an awesome army of encouragement and support. My state of mind is rather unusual for me. As a child, if I had an upset stomach, my mother would put ginger ale in a glass and stir it with a spoon until all the bubbles and carbonation were gone. I feel like flat ginger ale. Yesterday
