Hi looking for reassurance or anyone with a similar story. I’m currently 11dp5dt and have had positive tests since day 5 which I’m very happy about. However today I noticed a bit of light brown discharge and then half an hour later wiped away dark red blood. There was loads of it but enough to make me panic. It’s not fully gone away and I’m so worried it’s going to end badly.
I’m taking estradiol tablets and patches, lubion, cyclogest, prednisolone, tinzaparin and aspirin. I’ve read and I’m hoping it’s the cyclogest irritating my cervix or the blood thinners.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey there! What kind of transfer did you have? For fully medicated cycles my dr told me it is normal to have a bleed in the first trimester. Also, check your progesterone and until then ask your dr if you should increase the dosage... For example I am full o progesterone - 2 Daily injections, 3 pessaries, 6 oral... Plus one oil progesterone every week, and I am still borderline low all the time...
Frozen single embryo transfer. The clinic have said not to worry and to stop the tinzaparin and aspirin until it stops. Wish it was that easy not to worry
Congrats on the pregnancy! I’m pregnant (16dp5dt today) and have had brown spotting with occasional red for over a week, some days more than others. I went for a second blood test today and my HCG levels are rising how they should so the clinic are not concerned and said it’s just something that can happen. I know it’s hard not to worry though!
Thanks so much for replying and congratulations to you too. My tests having been getting darker so hoping all is well. The clinic I’m at doesn’t do Hcg levels just a scan at 7 weeks.
hi, congratulations, I had spotting at 4 weeks and again at 6 weeks and went for an early scan at 6 weeks and all was well. There were little haematomas in the uterine lining near the pregnancy and the nurse told me that’s where it was coming from and it’s really common in the early stages. Good luck, hope everything goes smoothly from now on in.
pS . My clinic didn’t do HCG either so I asked my GP as the spotting was worrying me and she did 2 blood tests for me 48h apart which reassured me as I was finding the waiting excruciating which the clinic didn’t seem to understand/ care about x
Thanks so much. Yeah hopefully it’s just something similar it just worried me so much. It hasn’t gotten any worse so hopefully it’s just a one off. I haven’t had any symptoms the past 2 days so that added to my fear that something is going wrong.
hey can you phone your clinic for advice? I had bleeding at a similar stage with our son and they did bloods and then scans at 5.5 weeks (as HCG in bloods were very high) due to the bleeding ( our clinic don’t usually do bloods at all and first scan not until 8 weeks) they found a subchorionic hematoma and you need to stop blood thinners with that so I would defo phone them for some advice but it seems to be so common in IVF pregnancies to have a bleed of some sort in the early days! Congrats 🙌🏼 on your BFP and hope you get some advice from your clinic to put your mind at ease xx
congratulations! Spotting and bleeding is very common in first trimester and even more so with IVF - 50%! I had spotting every day and some heavy bleeding on some days between 5-8 weeks pregnant in my successful cycle (currently 35 weeks). It’s always super scary but can be so normal. If you do get any heavier bleeding contact your clinic or EPU but before 6 weeks there will not be much they can do. It’s such a tricky time as you kind of just have to sit tight and keep going!
The same happened to me. On my OTD i bled for 1 week, I was convinced i was bad news. I stopped taking my blood thinners and aspirin when this happened and started again once it stopped but it started again. So I stopped taking them all together. I’m now nearly 20 weeks pregnant with a little boy. Xx
hi Victoria, I got slight spotting and also tested positive very early maybe day 6 I then went to a scan at 7 weeks. Never had spotting before and saw 2 heart beats from a single embryo transfer!
