DSNS protocol

I am on 2.5 mg prednisone going to 2 mg. Twice in the last 6 months I have flared at 2 mg.

I am on week three of the 5 week DSNS plan. Once I get to a full week of only 2 mg can I then start the program again going from 2 to 1.5 mg if no stiffness or should I hold at 2 mg for awhile before reducing again? If so how long. Last week I had my CRP checked and I was .6

Thank you again for your wise advice.

Really depends on how you feel… and I guess you mean my plan as you talk in weeks… but it matters not which one you are on, advice would be the same .

But to be honest at such low doses it’s probably wise to stay a couple of weeks [at least] to make all sure all okay.. before embarking on next taper. 0.5mg can make a big difference and there really is no rush… .

If you flared befoe at 2mg I'd slow right down and spend a few weeks at 2mg before continuing. And if you flare again. go straight back to 2.5mg and stay there for a few months. No hurry ///

As always good advice. You and DL are getting me over this disease. I have had it now for 3 years and happy that I can see the finish line, remission line I guess. All the best from the west coast of Canada

Careful - don't get too elated. Even 1/2mg can be the difference between OK and not ok by keeping the inflammation due to a very low level of disease activity under control.

I am currently on the last week of the 7 week taper from 3 mg to 2.5mg, thankfully with no issues. I am due to go on holiday to Mongolia in a few weeks time, so I am going to stick at 2.5mg until I come back, as I really don’t want to carry on reducing whilst I am travelling. I will be taking extra prednisolone with me, just in case the pressures of travel cause a flare, but fingers crossed!. Just need to sort out all the time difference stuff now!

You might find some help in this -and as you say no reducing whilst away - enjoy

Thank you! I knew there was some info as I have done long haul previously on prednisolone, but this saves me hunting for it.
