Myasthenia gravis

I may be affected by Myasthenia Gravis (MG) due to difficulties with swallowing, and recently I can only swallow liquids. I also experience muscle weakness, particularly in my legs.

Finally, after 9 months, they have diagnosed me with TED, after discounting Myasthenia Gravis, amongst many other things. I am Euthyroid, so my TSH, T4, T3 are in normal range, though my Thyroid Receptor Antibody blood test came back positive (though not that high 2.6). My MRI also implied TED.

A blood test for AChR (Serum) came back positive for Myasthenia Gravis (MG) . I had the same test done last April when it was negative, I'm just wondering if anyone else has MG as well as PMR?

She also asked if I had Myasthenia Gravis. But I have been tested for that - so no. She said that it could not be GCA, as would have pain. I have now discovered that the double vision is in both eyes. That is, even when I cover one eye!

I have a neurologist appointment before my next monthly injection to check peripheral neuropathy and muscular weakness (dr thought it might be myasthenia gravis). The doctor is confident i do not have PA after negative IFA and PCA. I just want to feel normal again!

There was a short piece in the BMJ the other day advising patients taking statins to be alert to new symptoms for myasthenia gravis, or worsening symptoms of pre-existing myasthenia gravis, and to seek medical advice if these occur. It is quite rare, but thought I would let people know.
