Is all the extra medication needed?
Hello everyone. I was diagnosed with PMR just over 2 years ago and have posted on this invaluable site a few times. After high doses of Pred at the beginning with a possible threat of GCA,, which did not occur, I have yo-yoed a bit with stresses in life. However I am currently on 7 and a half mg and

Worried
I had half my thyroid out end of September last year as it was enlarged. I was assured all along (nearly 3 years) by ENT consultant that it was 'nothing nasty' but he decided during summer 2023 it needed to be removed when it was pushing my windpipe right across to the side of my throat. Results came

Strange Result
I recently did my thyroid tests.2.1.24 Monitor My Health taking 87.5 mcg levothyroxine, 12.5 mcg liothyronine for the last 8 weeks. TSH 0.02 mu/L FT3 4.3 pmol/L 32.43% FT4 18.7 pmol/L 67% Based on these results, I decided that I should be able to make a bigger step in my liothyronine to 25 mcg. Typically

Blood in urine!
Hi, Feeling extremely anxious as a dip test by the GP just before Christmas showed blood in the sample…couldn’t be seen with the naked eye. I had gone to see the GP because of frequent peeing during the night but with no pain. He sent the sample off to the lab to check for infection and prescribed

Low ferritin again
Unsurprisingly my ferritin has fallen back to the very bottom of the range yet again after i ceased iron supplements back in march. Raised a call with the surgery this morning and within 6 minutes of raising the call online it had been closed by the enhanced care practitioner as saying no action required

Hernias
Just want to know if it's common to have a hernia after having the Ivor Lewis surgery. It's been 9 years and still have stomach problems. One Dr said it appears to be a hernia and the main Dr said he doesn't know what he's taking about as it was just scaring from surgery.

NICE Guidelines Delay?
Does anyone have any information about the delay for the publication date of the new NICE B12 guidelines to be moved from next week to early March? I need the new guidelines to fight for reinstatement of my 8 weekly injections which were stopped when I changed to a new surgery which insists on testing

Loss of service
Since being diagnosed with lymphoedema early this year as a result of surgery/trauma I have been trying various stockings and tights which wouldn't make my sensitive skin itch. I phoned my lymph team up today to discuss where to go from here and I have been told that they can no longer support Lymph

Pred 5 mg blocked by GP until consultant letter produced!
As flagged up earlier, I am having a flare, so ordered more Pred 5mg as per usual. I had to put a message in to explain the request. I said that the consultant had advised the increase. It was cleared on line but then blocked by the time I got to the Pharmacist. A new salaried GP texted me -

Congenital Heart Disease
Hello This is mainly aimed at Females who have congenital heart disease. I have recently had my third open heart surgery, it’s been successful and I’m recovering well. I would like my own family in the future which the hospital is aware of because that’s on of the reasons as to why I have had surgery

Dienogest?
I've finally seen a specialist and he's told me I haven't got deep infiltrating endo as it's not showing up on scans but I could have mild so has put me onto the list for surgery (which is a relief) but he also wants me to start dienogest. I've never mentally reacted well to birth control but was willing

Mini maze update.
Apologies I know I promised to post updates and haven't. I had my mini maze surgery back in September with the wonderful Mr Hunter on the NHS. I've been in NSR ever since which is amazing as I had moved to persistant Afib and I felt pretty awful all the time before surgery. I am soooo grateful to Mr

Help with MRI results / treatment pathway (inc bowel endo)
Hi all - Please can you have a look at my MRI findings below. Any help on other people's experiences or what my surgery/treatment pathway might look like I would really appreciate it. I'm trying to decide whether I should wait it out for NHS surgery and what that might look like or bite the bullet

Dad was diagnosed in 2016 stage 4, bones and lymphnodes. We dont have a gleason score because his diagnoses was found through a hip xray after a fall and they biopsied his hip. He has had lupron, xgeva, bicalutamide and now he is on Xtandi. Dads last bone scan psa were July 8th. His bone scan showed

Inflammation — this stuff works?
Added 1/26/24: I had sleep issues and had to quit 299v. I can’t rule out placebo, but sleep could also be B1 break (I was on day 4 of the break. I quit 299v on day 22 of the B1.) Could the effects of B1 being cleared from my body be responsible for any improvements and/or any problems? I believe 299v
