Update on T3 endo appointment 🤦‍♀️

Hi everyone ❤️

As I've posted a lot in the last few days about the awful endo appointment (27th Dec) and the gp saying I can go without my thyroid medication 😳(no thyroid).

I have today received a phone call from said gp, who told me she as now received the report, I let her talk.. The recommendation (as I knew it would be from endo) was to go back on T4.. I explained that both T4, T3 still give me the gut issues this is why I refused the T4, and although the t3 gives me gut issues also it does at least resort a good level of T3.

We spoke and she said "unfortunately I can't prescribe the t3 the endo as refused it and I can't go against her, she as the last word. 😡

So now I roll out the killer terms💪... 1, I ask for a second opinion, referral to another endocrinologist

2, I ask to be referred to gastroenterology

3, I ask to be referred to rheumatology (because my F18 pet scan

Shows inflammation in the body)

And a recent blood test at the eye clinic showed inflammation in the

Optic disc, with a recommendation my ccp antibodies are checked

R A.

Breath out... 🤣 I waited with bated breath for the response.. and was pleasantly surprised, she as agreed to all the referrals as urgent , but she'd like to see me in the surgery to look over my joints before the RA appointment... No problem!

All appointments are to be out of area🤣🤣🤣 I really got under that endos skin I think🙌👏👏

But the only killer is I have no choice but to go back on t4😔 obviously I can now demand another thyroid hormone blood test because it's a change in medication 🙌 this is only until I can see a specialist endo she is apparently looking into a endocrinologist who only deals in thyroid conditions 🤔 I have asked her to furnish me with the name of the endo so I can do my own research.

She agreed.

All in all, so far it's been a good day in thyroid land🙏

Ho and I asked he if it would be OK for me to go without thyroid medication for any length of time?

She said "absolutely not, please don't try that" she seemed really genuine saying that, I now wonder if the receptionist just told me that without conferring with the gp, wouldn't surprise me 🤔

Thanks to everyone who's replyed to me in the last few days ❤️❤️

birkie what a big pile of steaming pants your endo could potentially have left you in... at least your GP doesn't agree about withholding all your thyroid meds... always difficult when initially dealing with a receptionist who knows jack about your problems... That endo sounds like a right sadist! I've been busy so haven't followed your recent news, but here's hoping that this is the beginning of the end of your story. Everything crossed for you.

Thank you❤️

I just think to many of these endocrinologist have a god or sadistic complex, she really dislikes me, and as made it clear on no more than 3 visits to her, she doesn't like it when I challenge her, personally I don't like her either, her attitude stinks.

Bet she just loved stopping my T3 script, but I caught her out as I showed her the photos of what I'm passing 💩 the first photos were me on the T4 but I didn't tell her that, when I showed her, she immediately jumped on T3 saying "that's the t3 doing that"

Then I actually showed her it was the T4 by the dates when I was on it.. Here's the pictures of me on T3.. See no difference both medication gives me gut issues.

Should have seen her face.... Lemon and sucking comes to mind😂. But with her attitude she just ignored it😡 typical eh.

Hi birkie,

In the meantime did you consider trying Vencamil brand of levo?

I remember it was mentioned to you on a previous post.

The gp is doing the T4 prescription now with the lactose free NOT teva I specifically told her that, she is going to look over all the T4 medications I've been on and pick on my recommendation, if I'm not pleased I'll mention vencamil if I've not already tried it👍

Definitely worth a go! Good luck 😊

Vencamil is the ONLY lactose free alternative apart from Teva

Only available in 100mcg tablets

So you will need to cut to get different doses if necessary

Local pharmacy may be unable to provide

Try specialist pharmacies online

Will cost you for post and packaging

Glad to hear GP is actually listening

“as I showed her the photos of what I'm passing 💩”

Is this what I think it is?????? Lolololol?!!!! Serves her right for not taking your word for it!

What a cliffhanger you left us with last time, glad you won’t go entirely without your T4!

So glad that GP listened to you and is making the referrals. I hope the Receptionist has some retraining.

For my T3, I go through Endo’s secretary for repeat ‘scripts, blood test forms etc, and she is really helpful. However - when I ask her for test numbers over the phone, she can’t stop herself from commenting on them - and I have to grit my teeth! 😬.

It’s a small price to pay to access what I need - but shows just how much the Dunning -Kruger effect is prevalent in health care, and at every level. The D-K effect is “a cognitive bias in which people with limited competence in a particular domain overestimate their abilities’”.

In other words, “they don’t know what they don’t know”.

The term used for an incompetent person given (or assuming) responsibilities beyond their knowledge and ability is ‘overplacement’.

A load of psycobabble, or something many of us are all too familiar with?

Anyway, glad you are making some progress🙂: I had been wondering how you were getting on.

Thank you❤️

It just shows you how endocrinologists are lacking in morals, I received my copy of the endocrinologist report yesterday.

I'm going to post the results up later, because it requires a lot of angry emojis 😡

She has lied on the report, and tried to prescribe oral T4, for which she already prescribed 15 months ago, and I informed her I couldn't stomach it so got put back on T4 tablets, and due to gut issues (she as been informed about on several occasions) I was put on T3, but still having gut issues.

She as what I call been playing thyroid medication tennis with me for the past 3 and a half years.

If she had her head screwed on correctly, she'd have seen in her notes I couldn't stomach the oral t4😡

But let's face it, do any of them really look at there notes 🤷‍♀️

Some years ago I was involved in a large patient record digitisation project. In the old analogue world, it was recognised that the latest discharge letter was often the only document read when a patient represented, the historic record mainly retained in case of litigation.

There has been a huge transformation in the management and presentation of records and results, and patients should benefit . Hard to change behaviours though !
