Medical marijuana
When my husband wakes up (: ( ) I will double check with him, but i just looked at what he uses (keep in mind, this was not a CURE at all, but it does take the edge off and help some)
CBD Oil and Vape Pen. The oil is "Care by Design", CBD-Rich, sublingual drops. You just use what you want, he uses half a dropper at a time few times a day. He just goes to the dispensary and gets these two things.
Thank you for your reply. I'm trying to educate myself as much as I can without letting this awful disorder steal any more of my life away.
He says the best thing to do if you have not already is go to a cannabis shop and they are usually very helpful because there are so many different options. He prefers things with low THC so he can stay clear headed (since the RLS and not enough sleep is enough fog brain in itself). I know alot of people that use the oil drops for a variety of things (anxiety, pain, etc) and they love it. It can raise your heart rate though if you are prone to that, I had A Fib for awhile and when i tried the CBD oil I was surprised to feel like my heart was racing so it is not for everyone.
Hello mmb8083,
I have mild to medium RL. Have had it for about 6 years now. I have never gone on a DA but have tried many other approaches. Now I just use thc/cbd. My rl is only at night currently so I use marijuana right before bed for sleep. I use an indica strain (indica is more sedative, sativa is more energetic) I don’t stick with the same one, I shake it up. The cbd is anti inflammatory but it can be energizing too, the thc is for the rl and any pain, so I either get a blend with 2/1 thc/cbd or I get 2 products one high cbd one high thc. One other benefit I notice is I get more deep sleep with the marijuana (I have a ring that monitors my sleep). I think it is taking me out of flight or fight mode and helping my brain to remember what it is like to relax. Vape cartridges are nice, they don’t have the strong pot smell and they can add other beneficial ingredients, but they are pricey. Buds are cheaper but you smell like pot.
I am so thankful that where I live it is legal. And the comment about the helpful bud tenders at the dispensary is spot on. Hope this helps.
Hi. I’m on day 5 of Mirapex withdrawal & so far so good. I’m taking oxycodone 3 times a day & also THC/CBD oil capsules that I made with Coconut oil & Gorilla Glue#4 which is a powerful “couch lock” & within 5 minutes I’m out for 4-6 hours!!! I’m sleeping better now than I have the last 20 years. Wish I had tried it sooner. I also have several strains of sativa or Indicas that I will puff on when things get bad. Honey Boo & cookies both are helping keep the edge off. Talk to your dispensary & they will be able to recommend what’s popular in your area. Good luck. You deserve to feel good again!
Thank you so much for your suggestion on the gorilla glue. I had never heard of that but am trying to educate myself on MM since it is now legal in my state. I am desperately trying to find a combination of things that will help. Opiods work well but due to them being addicting I do save them for an extremely difficult night or if I've had 3 or 4 nights of little sleep. So reading about the success of MM helping with this dreaded disorder I am doing as much research as I can to find the right strain. I've read that gorilla glue is one of the most popular products at the dispensary. Sleep should not have to be such a complicated science project every night causing this much anxiety so hoping to try what you have suggested.
None of the cannabis strains I have tried did much (if anything) for my rls but they are great for sleep. I have heard that critical mass and sensi star work well for rls if you can get them. Someone else mentioned strawberry cough.
I think it might be a question of trial and error. People respond differently to different strains of cannabis and of course we rls sufferers are very idiosyncratic.
I have heard that gorilla glue is fab for inducing sleep - would love to try it sometime.
Thank you for your suggestions also. I want to be well informed before I decide to venture into this arena . This disorder has certainly taught me the importance of reaching out to others. I have gotten the most valuable information from this forum. Wish I had discovered this site before I let my doctor talk me into taking Recuip. I would never have done so had I read all the posts on this site . Would have saved me from the months of torment I endured weaning off
